I love how this shows: Alejandro is a manipulative man, and he knows it, but it shows how he is actually falling for Heather, and isn't willing to let a potential love interest just stay there and possibly die. Fun fact: As Alejandro gets closer to the finale, his voice gets more autotuned. His spiral into outright villainy instead of manipulation is marked with the autotune. Kind of a good foreshadowing to what happens to him at the end (and how he shows up in All Stars). The autotune only lets up a little when he's singing about Heather and saving her. The only human aspect to his character for quite some time.

A reason why World Tour was the best season Character development. All of these characters have developed for the better. Or worse. Ezekiel: Went from a home schooled boy to a very determined home schooled animal Heather: Went from being the best TD villain to becoming the "good guy" in WT (She's not as bad as she was in TDI) Noah: Went from being a know it all to being an actually sane person that made it farther than anyone expected Gwen: Went from Gwent to Gwuncan. This song is perfect. It simultaneously shows why they both deserve to be in the finale (and makes the case for why they should won/lose). For Alejandro it showcases his (near) perfect game while also highlighting Heather as his one weakness. By keeping her in the game, he potentially fatally harms his but he also demonstrates just how much influence he has over the season. For Heather it demonstrates how far she’ll go to win. He doesn’t save her just because; she has to make multiple attempts to convince him to do so. It shows that while Alejandro is also her own weaknesses, it isn’t quite in the same way. Obviously, if he leaves her she just loses but she is able to play on his pride (because this situation was just something that happened not something he did or caused) and, after all the stuff she’s been through over three seasons, she doesn’t really have any pride left. This song is character development 101 and should be studied in writing school (or, at the very least, later seasons of this very show should have kept in mind). It’s also the culmination of a three season arc for TD’s main protagonist, Heather, complete with a face turn, all while keeping both characters true to themselves. It’s also also the single moment that convinced me that Heather is the canon winner of the season; for everything he did throughout the season, Alejandro couldn’t bring himself to leave Heather there when it mattered most. (Don’t forget, if Sierra didn’t blow up the plane and get disqualified, Alejandro would’ve been voted out literally minutes later because Heather broke the “promise” she made but never intended to keep that Alejandro believed she would.)

The fact that Heather got Allejandro to help just shows that for all his skills in playing others, manipulating hims isn't that hard if you know his buttons.Namely the fact he considers himself a gentleman and his pride. While he isn't above using girls, he never physically hurt them and on occasion helped them out even if that meant risking loss for his team. As for pride Heather was absolutely right about them being the greatest adversaries on Total Drama so far. Heather was the one who distrusted Alejandro from the start, and despite his tricks she managed to make it to the final three while none of the competitors liked/trusted her thanks to the previous seasons. That combined with their obvious crush for each other explains why he helped her.
