I’ve been using Logic for several years but I’m still learning from your coverage of fundamentals. For example, I didn’t know about clicking a key in piano roll to select all of the entries on that pitch (!). And now I understand how Q settings are sticky. These videos are re-clarifying fundamentals for me and I’m picking up some overlooked gems. Many thanks!

Hello, I also like to thank you for the great tutorials. I was also wondering if there was some kind of 'quantize note ends function' in Logic Pro? I sometimes use this but I just started off in logic and do not seem to find this...?

Is there a way to automatically have the grid lines change with the quantize value? I.e. if you change the quantize value to 1/12 the grid auto-adjusts to three lines per beat? (Thanks for great tutorials!!!)

Thanks man! Just starting to get into logic and these are super informative. Do you have any recommendations for learning the theory side of things?
@MusicTechHelpGuy Жыл бұрын
Music Theory? I have an old course on my channel called "Music Theory for Producers". I'll probably updated it one day. The production is a little dated, but the information is all relevant. If you're looking for something that's a little more digestible, I did two courses over at MacProVideo.com called "Music Theory for DAW Musicians" and "Advanced Music Theory for DAW Musicians". They approach theory in a way that is easy for DAW musicians and producers to understand, rather than a traditional music theory course. Thanks for the support!

This is the first lesson that I got a problem with :( and I can't find a solution. If I try to quantize to 1/8 triplets it doesn't sound the way you're demonstrating. It sounds somewhat like swing. If I quantize to 1/16 then it sounds the way it sounds in your video but you're quantizing to 1/8 triplets (1/12). Idk why it happens and I can't seem to find a solution. Before that I'd copy what you do and everything would sound the same.

Apparently quantization only changes when the notes start, not when they end. So those whole-note pads are ending at completely unquantized times -- not even 16th notes. Right ?
@MusicTechHelpGuy Жыл бұрын
Yes, Logic only quantizes the note start. Note-end quantization is a feature that Logic should have had added a LOOONG time ago. Not sure what the hang up on that is, because a bunch of other DAWs already support that.

It looks like 100% swing doesn't get all the way to eighth note triplets. But the 10.7.8 update fixes it, so we don't care.
