I was here years ago with a couple other people late at night. Was very scary and haunted like. We thought we heard something or someone, sounds of footsteps in the building. We left a desk next to the window we came in from with something on it so we could easily remember where we came in from. When we were leaving the building in a hurry we found the window we came in from however the desk we left next to it was gone. While we were in the building we heard an OPP on the outside of the building yelling at us to come out. Luckily we got off with a warning and we got escorted off the properly in the back of an OPP car. We asked the cop if what we heard inside was him, and he said it wasn’t him because they’re legally not allowed inside because of health hazards etc. Who or what we thought we heard inside we will never know. Quite the experience I must say.

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed this. You never know what you will find in the Canadian woods! The situation with the OPP was really funny, but I would have been completely terrified at the time.

My grandparents worked there. That's how they met eachother. Grandma was a nurse and grandpa was a janitor/ repair man.. we still have a picture of my grandma and all the other nurses standing infront of the main building along with the head doctor. No one is smiling in the picture🤨

Muskoka Center. It was originally for TB. It then became an institution for developmentally delayed individuals. The houses were lived in by higher functioning individuals thst didn't need as much support. Muskoka Center along with a few other institutions were involved in a class action suit for the abuse and neglect of these people and they won.

Awesome video. At 18:02 the curtain was moving. Very creepy. I hope it was wind...?

The houses were homes to some of the higher functioning handicapped where they were taught life skills such as cooking and laundry. The second 3 story building was also home to the developmentally handicapped. The red lights on the side of the buildings were to alert the fire fighters as to where the fire was located.

Rebuild the buildings into small apartments that can house low income or homeless people.

I was reading the short story by Alice Munro called "Amundsen", about a Sanatorium in Ontario "near Huntsville". The sanatorium in the story is probably based on this one in Gravenhurst. Great story, great video. Thanks.

Interesting! I’m going to see if I can find it. I’m sure it is about this place. Thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching!

@@ObscuristTourist I had explored this property early in 2016 found tons of AR-15 casings along with 9mm, after finding them our group decided it was best to leave the property and do our research before returning 🙃 we spent count less hours walking in and out of the buildings, best part has to be the labyrinth of tunnels and the random propane bomb we found... not active but still sketchy!

You ghost hunters sensationalize everything. This facility was NEVER an insane asylum!!! It was originally opened as a T.B. hospital. Once that closed it housed developmentally handicapped adults. It was a beautiful place with a beach, picnic area, play ground, campground..............The reason why it fell to ruin was because the OPP used it once it closed and when they left, they didn't shut the water off and so all the pipes burst.

To be fair, I’m not a ghost hunter and never once mentioned hunting ghosts. This was an early video of mine, but I do mention that it was a TB hospital.

@ObscuristTourist3 жыл бұрын
The cops definitely care. After all, the entire property is now an OPP training site. It’s difficult to get in and out without being seen, but it’s possible.

I went here with a couple others years ago late at night….long story short, we were in the building and heard a cop outside and we left the building like he asked us to and he escorted us off the property in the back of his OPP vehicle. They care. We got off with a warning luckily.
