back in the 80s it was a great lake for muskie, walleye and panfish. When they drained it the first time there was huge muskie that came out of there. It used to be on the wall at the fish hatchery in Allentown near the hospital. Just about every Sunday I was there at the Lake.
@PoconoOutdoorsGuy7 жыл бұрын
The musky are awesome there now, a really great place to fish! Still catch & release though....

If you remember after the first draw down the fish commission loaded it up with bass thinking it was going to be a bass capitol of Pa. All the bass you wanted to catch with big heads and skinny bodies for a total of 10 inches. Will it ever be what it once was?? Brady's and Gouldsboro are two others to name a few that the fish commission screwed up.

can't stress enough NO WATERS on the ice especially when it's that thin and 50degrees put some ice cleats on and stay off your ass being a diehard musky guy I liked your enthusiasm and your concern for the fish was awesome
@fishing4life618 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more about no waders on the ice, its a bad practice for sure. I plan to get a Clam suit soon. Although the ice does look very thin (possibly from color correction in editing). It was actually 5+". As for the cleats, I did have a very cheap pair on, clearly they dont get the job done. Time for some nicer ones. Thanks for the feedback! It is appreciated.

Love the video! After I use the depth finder (clamp on heavy thng) I use a tiny bobber to mark my depth. Its maybe 3/4" wide and I could even wrap the line up with the bobber still connected for quick pick up at dusk or dark when your fingers are too frozen to fight with

Brian, thank you for watching and that is a FANTASTIC tip! Why dont I think of these things! Maybe even post that to our FaceBook page as a great ice fishing tip. @POGnetwork

All my tipups have buttons on them for marking depths. Slides on the line easily, but stays put god enough. And the weighted clip is called a sounder.
@brianmcdonald44436 жыл бұрын
My father always used buttons and taught me to use them. I always had to re-check the depth after each fish I pulled in because it would slide on the edge of the hole or from water resistance. And on a good day it was less time with my bait in the water and more time with my gloves off! So I found the smallest bobber I could find didn't move, but I never caught muskie thru the ice. Just bass and pickerel. The button was small but maybe I needed a smaller one.

Keep up the great work and high video quality.

@fishfeverwithjoshtaylor39046 жыл бұрын
Sylus Nunn I would say it depends what they feed on primarily. If they are eating gills/perch then they are often down at the same depths as them. But if they are trout eaters they will probably be higher up in the water. Honestly I don’t think bait depth is that important, they aren’t afraid of moving up or down to take a bait. Being in the right spot in general is more important
