What your soul needs, is to hear Jesus tell you that He forgives you. You need to go to confession. Jesus speaks to us through His ordained ministers. Abundant graces flow through the Sacraments, to overcome habitual sins. I speak from my own life, as an ex-atheist, to hear the priest tell me that Christ has absolved me of my sins, was the greatest source of comfort.

Additionally, your framework completely ignore verses in the Bible that tells believers to confess their sins to each other such as James 5:16, public confession of past sins Acts 19:18, as well as the most important bit. Why did Jesus give the Apostles the Authority to forgive sins? John 20:22-23: "And with that he breathed on them and said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. *If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.'"*
