As a child until about the age of 7, I lived in Ethiopia. I remember every year on the day of "sigd", which means a day of worship/prayer to the God of Israel, which falls 50 days after Yom Kippur, we go up a high mountain and are asked to pray in the direction of the sunrise to Jerusalem, a day taken from the time of Ezra and Nehemiah when they returned from Babylon. It symbolized for us: first, maintaining our Jewishness and remembering the God of Israel and not assimilating with the Gentiles, second, unity in the people of Israel, and third, remembering Jerusalem and praying for the peace of Jerusalem. In general, our grandparents always prayed in the direction of Jerusalem every single day.

I recently acquired a copy of BRIT SHALOM by Rabbi Oury Cherki. Judging from all the letters of approval from Rabbis, it must be a good book for the non-Jewish 'b'nei noahh'. I am not interested in that organization's prayerbook, BRIT OLAM, because I prefer to read from Tehillim in order to know how David haMelekh prayed and as a preparation for my own heartfelt prayers. Is that an acceptable practice for a non-Jew who both fears and loves Hashem? I will remember that order for prayers: praise, requests, and thanks. I wish you continued success and true prosperity.
