Is it possible to turn it too high/far (an even break the mesh head) and how does one know it is too far?

Hi Ludo, it never happened to me, but of course I never tried it🤪 But when it's too strong the rebound is unnatural and you automatically stop tighten the mash head. So try to tighten the mash head till your rebound is perfect and then stop☺️ Bye Rudi
