I prefer the chrome myself but the black does goes well with the red. Even MINI themselves sell kits for making the chrome bits black! Their "waistline finisher piano black" is expensive, but no hassle with tape.

The belt line kit needs heat to be applied properly. It needs to be hit with a hair dryer or a heat gun for it to stretch properly. It took me around an hour to install.

Does the cover on the fuel filler cap not rub against the paint since it is so large and protruding?

Hi Josh, Love the car and love your commitment to making it perfect ... your car deserves it. I have to be honest though, I'm almost 70 years old and have been modifying real muscle cars since the late sixties. Gluing on some black pieces of plastic is not modifying anything ... it's covering up something you don't like the looks of. Do yourself a big favor and do the research on how to pull off the parts correctly ... learn how to strip the chrome and prep them properly for black paint. Frist of all, they will look fantastic and you will have the knowledge that you did it the right way. Cheers and happy motoring, Dave
