Great video. Probably to late for my idea but here it is. Maybe use a few rare earth magnets on each side to fill the space. They’ll act as a spacer and they’re so strong they’ll hold the shelf more secure. Gary

Maybe just me but I would never hang anything off the front of my appliances. I'd rather have it on two tube legs at the back of this unit or over the shelves. I am wondering if you removed the bottom cover and put walls around a raised shelf under the griddle would there be enough heat to work like a salamander, a broiler. Think of the nachos with melted cheese from the griddles burners. Good video Thankyou. God bless.
@SmokinwithKasket2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching, commenting, and hopefully subscribing. I’m thinking you don’t own a griddle like this. That front shelf is just amazingly handy to keep your spices your water and oil bottles right there right in front and ready to go. It’s almost a necessity if you use a griddle like this. You would not be able to use the shelf as a salamander as there is no heat at all underneath. Actually, the shelving below is a very cool almost no heat at all. Again thanks for watching and stay safe my friend.

@@SmokinwithKasket My griddle is the 2 burner camp chef basecamp stove with the griddle that covers the hole stove and the griddle that uses one burner. I started with one stove and bought a second one last summer, when our families decided our summer kitchen was the place to hangout. I just miss my salamander. Doing nachos and open faced sandwiches benefit from the broiler. I like the versatility of having the burners for pots or double boilers.

I owned one and offered it up to my deer camp because it was needed, but I wonder why people leave the grill grates in when their not grilling , I always removed mine and my griddle sat down really nice and I didn't have any issues with excess heat coming out of the side's and I had actually used mine on the front porch in basically a storm and never lost flame 😁 would love to get another one! Great unit! I did blueberry pancakes on it and bacon . I did salmon and asparagus wrapped in bacon .

It's an either or thing really, you can either leave them in, or take them out and store them on the shelf. I found leaving them in reduces the cooktop temp by 50* and leaves cold spots, took them out and more consistent heat. Doesn't solve the hot table sides though and if there is a breeze hitting it on one side, I found the opposite side gets much hotter, both griddle top and shelf. Would be nice if a shield could be put there to prevent the heat from radiating to the shelves. It is actually what I was looking for that led me to this video.

Let us know how that works out, plastic bottles are still close the the front of the unit. How hot does that area get? Will it still melt your plastic? I jus ordered the camp chef 600 and am interested in your experience with the new addition to the grill. You basically lost the use of your top shelf.
@SmokinwithKasket3 жыл бұрын
The shelf is an EXCELLENT ACCESSORY!!! I couldn’t imagine not having it. Also, I use the front top shelf all the time! Access is available through sides and back. Not a big deal. As for heat- it’s cool. There is no heat with regards to the shelf. The front of the unit runs cold. Must have accessory. Enjoy and thank you for watching.

I noticed in your assembly video and now this one, there are holes on the side of the top leg cross-members as well as in the firebox itself that look to be additional mounting points between the legs and the firebox but you don't have any hardware in there. Curious if that was a choice you made or if there was no hardware. Thanks. I'm really appreciating your videos.

No, not better, it’s just the way I was taught, incase they come loose you will only loose the nut, I know the grill won’t vibrate as much as a F-16 in flight, just a OCD thing, no worries, and thanks for the tips, my grill should be in any day now!

@@SmokinwithKasket yeah that could be a bummer. I have a few ideas in my head to fix the issue but until I actually have the shelf I'm not sure yet. Trying to decide between the SS or diamond cut. Any thoughts on your end?

SS all the way. Smooth finish looks of quality, restaurant quality appliance. I personally don’t like diamond cut. To me, in general, anything diamond cut looks cheaply made. There are high quality diamond cut products but for the most part, I just don’t prefer them.

1/2 magnets behind the tray.
@SmokinwithKasket4 жыл бұрын
David Derr - Good idea except the tray swings between the legs so you’ll still need to install the wooden cross member. The magnets if installed on the wooden cross member would cause too big of a shim causing the tray to flex outward thus placing stress on the stainless tray near the bolt holes. The tray is too short really. It should extend over both legs. Thank you for watching. Stay safe.

You’re totally wrong!!! I paid full price plus tax plus shipping and handling. The unboxing video was my first time to assemble it along with you all watching (later of course). Further, I sent the company an email and link to both my videos expressing the love for the product, the disappointing performance and the fix I came up with. They thanked me and said they will look into the design and a possible redesign in the future. That was it. I’m fine with it though. I wasn’t looking for a freebie or anything. Just know this was done strictly on my own dime and time which is consuming to shoot the video, edit and publish. All for my viewers and subscribers benefit. Which brings me to this: Thank you for watching and commenting. Please subscribe. Stay safe and healthy.
