Mirror, seat , helmet, lock , alarm, cargo bag of some sort, spare tube, fix a flat, valve stem tool, suspension pump , battery powered tire inflator , adjustable handle bar mount, gloves , tight warm clothing . I bought all these things with 1st bike . Double suspension so overkill on seat post .

Great video tips about most comfortable saddles along with suspension seat post upgrading, but I actually need the name of the Cargo Bag shown at precisely minute 3:25 The straps hanging securely and snugly to the rear rack might play a big role in keeping food delivery orders from spilling all inside the bag. I'm running out of ideas to keep that from happening.

Ultra plush seats are comfortable only for short rides. On long rides it will be uncomfortable.
@ebikingtoday Жыл бұрын
Agreed, some "ultra" plush will cause you to sit down and think it feels comfortable... only to discover something is hurting later.
@jaytoney300711 ай бұрын
My ebike came with a left side mirror so no problem. However, the seat was like sitting on a Judas Cradle. The first upgrades I made are a much wider-more comfortable saddle, and a pannier for the back rack. I have Flat Out on order. The next two items I am considering are a suspension seat post, and mechanical over hydraulic brakes. Then... a spare battery to increase the range.
@ebikingtoday11 ай бұрын
Saddles are typically the first thing to replace. I'd definitely consider a suspension seatpost... they make a world of difference!
@sbukosky Жыл бұрын
I disagree. You don't the #1 must have accessory. It's a rear-view mirror. Then I'd get a better saddle. I have the goofy looking YLG and have a suspension seat post. Depending on the bike and rider, a drop post can be both a comfort and a safety add-on.
@ebikingtoday Жыл бұрын
Good suggestions. I agree that a mirror is a top safety accessory that riders often forget and think that a good helmet is the #1 most important accessory overall 😄. A quality, comfortable saddle and seatpost are still must-haves that most brands don't give you with their e-bikes... pricing has become competitive!

While talking about the seat and suspension…saying it leaves you “a little bummed” cracked me up! 😂 not sure if that was meant to be said or just a coincidence. But funny!

DIY is the only way to go if you want to ride exactly what you want. IMO mirrors, turn signals and brake lights are the most important eBike accessories that almost nobody bothers with.
@ebikingtoday Жыл бұрын
Some brands are starting to understand the importance of brake lights and turn signals... but some will leave them out to compete with cost regardless.
@imoffendedthatyouareoffended9 ай бұрын
No signals because I live in the literal middle of nowhere so they’re pointless for me. I got mirrors and took them off, I just look behind me. E-bike came with a brake light that works when using brakes and a headlight as well, very useful so others see you at night from the front and back from the lights. My dad likes having the mirrors on his.

I waited a year before getting a suspension seat post, should have bought one the day I got the bike. Still searching for the prefect saddle though.

It really is an essential!

I'm really not concerned with these issues. I've ordered an Ebike and ordered a suspension seat post and the same saddle I have on my traditional Mountain bike that I currently use for my commute. As you state, saddles are very much a personal preference and so I doubt manufacturers are going to dedicate much of their build budget to something that is likely to be replaced very quickly by the owner, especially at the more budget end of the Market. I think I'd rather the build budget goes on essential drive train and battery components so as long as the saddle is good enough to ride the bike. It has to be remembered that it's a competitive market, I doubt the margins are huge unless you are spending thousands on a bike. With "traditional" bikes I've always considered the bike as a starting point. I'm totally with you on the suspension seat post, though. Absolutely the best investment I made for my everyday commuting bike and (as I stated) I've got one before my e bike is even delivered. I have seen them supplied with some ebikes as standard and also as accessories from the supplier but, like the saddle I suspect it's a cost issue for something that's easily upgraded according to taste and budget. I'm in the UK and spent about $20 on mine. I could have spent a little less or much, much more. Where I would like to see manufacturers spend a little more is on rear gearing because time and time again, on reviews I see the issue of "Ghost peddling" because the gearing is wrong on the cassette/freewheel. That's something that requires a little more time, effort, tools and knowledge to upgrade than a seatpost or saddle.
@ebikingtoday7 ай бұрын
Very good points. And I agree with you on the ghost pedaling... honestly, it's one of the most annoying things for me!

I agree, this was a great video. However I would question the priorities. While, it is very important to have comfort. Comfort is never more important than safety. I agree with the comments that said, the first thing that you need is a mirrow and tail lights and signal lights, they are more important than your comfort. I've been a cyclist for 20 years and I've ridden motorcycles all my life, just saying. I've been involved is so safety classes and safety is far more important than comfort. This is not to say, these other things aren't important, there just not the most important things. Let's also not forget the importance of wearing a helmet also.
@ebikingtoday6 ай бұрын
Safety is absolutely the most important consideration when riding an ebike! I hope everyone is putting safety first and using the accessories mentioned to be a happier, more comfortable rider 😁
@WitchyKatz9 ай бұрын
It is easy to assume a big plush saddle would be more comfortable, however that usually is NOT the case. Most good saddles are pretty minimalist in looks, because they only offer support where you need it, your sit bones. All that extra padding causing chaffing etc and is not really all that comfortable. A QUALITY saddle will stretch and flex to provide as much if not more perceived comfort than a big goofy tractor seat. Some of the most popular saddles in the world have not much too them but their shape and materials just work perfectly together. Look at brooks leather saddles for example or the Selle Italia SMP...two of arguably the best saddles there are. Why does ebike marketing always seem to be aimed at or target new cyclists that don't know anything about bikes? Its a shame because I see some what would be really good offerings become a hard no on my list due to the walmart quality groupsets and such. You cannot even get a hollowtech 2 style bottom bracket on any ebike that I know, but actually even Walmart bikes are starting to show up with real cranksets these days, meanwhile brand new models of ebikes are all using square tapers which havent been found in a real bike shop in over a decade. Hint to ebike manufacturers, some of us expect and consider groupsets like Deore and Claris to be the absolute bottom of the range we would expect on something like this and none of you are close...nobody wants a bike we cant at least upgrade to be above big box bikes, you are basically strapping a 500 dollar motor on a 90 dollar bike. At least meet us in the middle, you want 2 grand for a bicycle and the best you can do is a ALTUS rear derailluer? Really?
