that trim 45 is clever because its absolutely INFURIATING trying to keep the tape measure from falling off the trim when marking a long board. i wish theyd make a version for crown somehow. It also keeps you from burning an inch....and forgetting to add it back lol

The Trim 45 is awesome. It only takes 4 or 5 cuts to have it become second nature. After that the entire trimming process goes much faster. Pro's that do trim every day would probably scoff at it. For those who only do trim once in a while it's helpful. The XMLEI level is pretty cool. If I recall correctly, this is the 3rd digital distance meter you have reviewed. It's the third time you haven't demonstrated accuracy by comparing the reading to a known distance for reference. And it's now the 3rd time someone has pointed that out. None of the bells and whistles mean anything if it doesn't measure accurately, which we still don't know. Bauer trim routers frequently go on sale for under $50.00. They're not DeWalt either, but they're a known brand with good reviews. I have a customized base plate on mine, and it works great.
@FlynndoggWoodwork9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing! I agree with you I probably need to show some testing on the accuracy. I guess in my mind that doesn't make for good content, but I have seen nothing in any of the laser distance meters I have looked at that raise any red flags. But maybe a detailed analysis on a few of these might make for a good video. Thank you so much for sharing. Very good points!
@ST-03119 ай бұрын
@@FlynndoggWoodwork A detailed review on those tools would be a good video, I think. However, for a multi tool video extensive demonstrations aren't really necessary. It only requires a couple of readings in comparison to measured distances to exhibit a tools precision. Testing accuracy is always good content. Actually, it's essential. I know you know how important it is, because you demonstrate the accuracy of every single square you review. If they're not accurate, they're next to useless. The same is true for every measuring tool whether physical or digital.

The trim 45 would be helpful if you do a lot of trim work. Especially the measuring slots.

Vertical legs on a door can be done without measuring. Install the top piece, Cut the 45s on the sides, turn upside down with the point on the floor, mark at top of head piece, then cut square on those sides.

Dogg, man way too many steps to remember. That's exactly what we were thinking. All that talk about "trim' reminded us of when we were young men out there chasing it. I'm glad I'm not a DIY guy, that Milescraft thing would have worn us out. Paolini pocket rule is the holy grail. I'm going to beat Santa to a pulp if he doesn't bring it this year. Though I was talking to his helper today, and fingers crossed. Merry Christmas, Dogg man.

Regarding that first "tool," that has got to be to biggest joke POS thing I've seen in a long time. If a carpenter can't measure and install window trim, he has no place calling himself a carpenter. I've hung hundreds of windows and doors in my carrier, and if I showed up on the job with that thing, I'd get laughed right off the site!

I put out 3 videos a week. Project videos take typically 3 times as long to film than tool reviews that is why you see more of these videos. I had a build video last week. Sure I could do project videos more often and I intend to. But Its very difficult to do so with my current schedule.
