At first I thought it was going to be two tripods supporting a crossbeam, but this is simpler, faster, and has far less fuss with even better utility. Definitely another welcome tool for the toolbox.

You’re not alone. The vast majority of people are so used to conventional ways to the point that innovation is stifled. For example, your idea was to try to keep each pot as in-line and as directly over the fire as possible; Dan’s method takes advantage of the fact that vessels can be NEXT to the fire to achieve the same results. I’ve found that more than one brain is often more than necessary to accomplish things.

Oddly, this helped me figure out another awesome use. I’m tired of being a bad shot and ruining plate stands. I have a bamboo madness growing and I started using it for tripods. But the plate constantly rotates hanging from the top. So, one more piece and I can have a solid platform. Thanks!

A cheap way to do this, instead of the blacksmith hooks, is to use a short hank of line with a toggle. Put a loop in the end of the line big enough to go over the toggle. Then you set your toggle on your pot, run the end of your line over the crossbar and use the loop in the end of the line to grasp the toggle again. Basically you're just making a larger loop to hang your pail. Trust me it works. And there are many variations you can use. All you need is a toggle and a bit of line. Thanks.

Put a tent stake notch on each tripod leg towards the top.. hang a line with a toggle & you can put all pots over the fire evenly & if ones done you can kick on leg out. Or you can just put 2 tripods opposite sides of the fire & have a stick going across doin it rotisserie style.

I have a variation of this instead of attaching the stick. Take 2 fish hooks and attach them to the spots that you would have attached the stick then we can place a stick in the hooks for more maneuverability of the tripod. Just an idea.

I want to see things in operation. It's my assumption the tripod is mad high to keep it out of the flames but you have made it closer. Also what kind of wood? The stick? What about the weight? See it in operation please

I wouldn't want that many pots on the go at once. I'd definitely ruin dinner! Is that tarred bankline holding the toggle? I'd be concerned it might drip tar or catch light when I added wood to the fire.

OK, something I say should be carried by anyone who cooks in the woods....3-4 feet of stainless steel cable, the type you use to hang a mirror or picture frame on the wall. It will NOT burn up in a fire, you can hang pots with it or you can wrap a log that is split 4 ways for a Swedish Torch fire. You can also shackle zombie dinosaurs with it.

Not a bad trick if a tripod is all you have. But why not just bring a fire grill? Tripods are clumsy enough even with a single pot, trying not to spill the contents or burn yourself in the process of adjusting the heat or trying to stir it.
