yeah, we English speakers tend to be loose with "give me a minute".....its not really a hard and fast rule for us, even when its just "give me a second" lol. It reminds me of a teacher i had in college who is of German descent and he was telling us how confusing it was to learn "How are you?" is a token niceness rather than a full-invitation to discuss a person's day. We just say, "How are you?" as a way of saying, "hello" and you answer, "fine thanks," or something like that, and move on. Although i think the, "How are you?" thing is mostly American.

Misa, totally unrelated subject in a way. But often people don’t seem to grasp that Shōnen manga are primarily targeted towards teen boys. But they keep using the meaning of the word Shōnen being “boy” thinking it’s for boys of all ages. But evidences shows that’s not true. Also it means “youth”, “few years” and “young man”. In one of your videos about manga, you said Shōnen manga is for teen boys. Which is true. Since it’s aimed at boys 12-18 years of age primarily. That’s a teen age range. But I just don’t get why people keep think because it means “boy comic” that they think it means it’s for boys of all ages. Cuz again there are sources that say otherwise and most are from Japan. Seems there is more to the word “Shōnen” than people outside of Japan don’t get. I mean many source books say; “Shōnen is often used strictly as a term for a type of manga primarily targeted towards young teen male readers”. But some many people outside of Japan have conflicting ideas behind that.

I'm really not a "book" learner. Studying is extremely hard for me so I can't just sit down with a pen and paper and retain what I am writing. It turns into a "mechanic" of repetition rather than actual memorization and comprehension. Unfortunately, being alone doesn't help that at all.... I'll just re-watch your videos and maybe little things will stick here and there. Being 30, with my brain, make it all feel pretty hopeless honestly... Can't even get an English teaching job in Japan during COVID. How pathetic is that haha

Hi Misa Sensei. I've found that I, and a lot of other Japanese learners feel like our grammar is pretty good, but our library of vocabulary isn't. In Western style schools, we just don't do bulk memorization very much. I always want to use simple verbs like 食べるとか飲むとか行くなど, and I think that's one of the biggest reasons my vocabulary is not the best. Would you think about introducing some lesser used words in your examples? I was happy to learn about 出前を取る in this video. Thanks Sensei!
