Here’s a little tip. I was traveling out of the country and I decided to begin packing like 2 weeks before the date. I decided to make my den the place where I would pack all my things at . My den is next to the kitchen. Little did I know that everything that was already packed up was just sitting there soaking up the smells of whatever I was cooking that day. Going back and forth to my suit case, I didn’t smell anything because you become immune. Well, as soon as I got onto the plane (tight space), I opened my travel purse and bammm! The food smells hit me. When I got to my destination and opened my suitcase, it was the same smell. I was smelling like a whole pot roast my whole trip. No amount of perfume could cover that. Anyway, don’t pack your bags around the kitchen or strong traveling smells. 😂😂😂

@@cynthiakerford4458 I go a bit further than that. I place a 8x10 picture of my face both on top and glued to the inside lid (if I have one) I caught a guy trying to walk off with my bag once and when I called him on it (he already tore off the tags) he created a ruckus. Security was about to let him go and detain me when I said I could irrefutably prove it's mine It took a sergeant to realize that I had a point and when they opened my bag and saw my smiling face there, the full on arrested him on the spot. (his protestations were the reason the went full on with him) But I didn't lose my stuff. It has worked for me twice in 30 years but I'm OK with that

I always pack a fanny pack and wear it under my coat or sweater onto the plane. They never count it as another personal item, and I put in it all the things I will need for the flight. Once on board, I take it off, lengthen the straps fully, and hang it over the tray in front of me (the tray can still close for take-off). Then I can use it as a sling to elevate my feet. Perfect for long-haul flights.

Southwest sure counted my AER day sling 3 max as a another personal item. Of course it was shown because I didn’t have on a sweater or coat because of the hot weather. I also had an AER backpack and my carry-on spinner. But i ended up gate checking it. And I also saw them make another dude consolidate his fanny pack before he even went into the jet bridge.

AirTags are the best. We went to Egypt and on the way back home, we had a long layover in Canada. My suitcase was mistakenly put on the carousel, but my husband’s was supposedly transferred. Needless to say, his bag was still in Canada while we were home. So we had to wait for it arrive, then wait until the luggage claim was open to retrieve it. The AirTag allowed us to tell the clerk at the airport that his luggage was there and we weren’t leaving without it. We got our luggage and left. 😊

I use alcohol prep pads more than the wipes. I travel for extended time (3 mo at a shot) and I find wipes dry out before used up. Prep pads however are individually wrapped and contain Just alcohol and more of it per pad. You have to use it fairly fast once open as they evaporate quickly. but the last for ages when lefty unopened. They are considered medical too for TSA purposes. and you can put 100 in your bags as they are thinner than condoms but about the same size square. Minimal residual aroma too. even works when taking a pit bath should That need arise

I LOVE this video. As someone who travels A LOT, I clicked this video extremely fast. If you don’t want to be loyal to any particular airlines, I’d recommend Gold Alliance or something similar to build status with different airlines and transfer points between airlines. I can vouch for the Amazon cheap tech case, toilet seat covers, sani wipes, quick dry towel, air tag, and Monos luggage!!! I use all these items for every trip. You didn’t mention the hero clip but I also use one for travel and it’s been a game changer and has SOOO many uses. Also, yes on the stop by Hudson News! 😂 P.S. as a fellow germaphobe I’d recommend getting soap sheets. They look kind of like the listinerine sheets but it’s soap and dissolves with water. TIP: Clear is not with every airport, but TSA Pre Check is. Also, Global Entry is great if you travel abroad it's 5 years as well and it takes over TSA Precheck, so you will have 5 years of Global Entry that will start immediately, and if you let it expire you will still have whatever years you had for TSA Precheck left over before Global Entry started.

🔺 airline employee here! Another tip, don’t check in 2-wheel bags… we hate it. We’re unable to roll it to our guys who’s in the bin that’s about 10-15 feet away so we’re gonna have to toss it as hard as we can to get those bags to the other guy. Then ends up getting the most damaged.
@mariebrown9415
@mariebrown9415 Жыл бұрын
Good to know but some of us are taking our bags on buses, trains, and wheeling on cobblestone streets. The 2 wheeled luggage are easier and more durable imo for these types of trips for me. Also 4 wheels can get pretty beat up. I can replace my 2 wheeled luggage but rarely 4 wheels. If getting in and out of cabs or Ubers 4 wheel is ok but can’t the beating like 2 wheels.
@EAF_Visuals
@EAF_Visuals Жыл бұрын
@@mariebrown9415 honestly 4 wheel bags ain’t that bad. It’s usually cause people don’t want to invest in a good brand that’s more durable. You can still roll the 4 wheelers as two and I suggest Rimowa luggage’s or Nomatic luggage’s.
@mariebrown9415
@mariebrown9415 Жыл бұрын
@@EAF_Visuals I’ll look at Nomatic. I have a small 4 wheel Rimowa carry on which I like and a Briggs & Riley 2 wheeled compression carry on ( bought extra set of wheels kit which are easy to change- haven’t had to yet) and a Tumi 4 wheel . I’m an over packer and use European trains and buses a lot and some trains you have to step up into them and get off quickly . Elevators broken , and often lots of steps at smaller metro and train stations - that’s my problem. My back can’t take heavy back packs so I wheel a lot. Solo traveler. Thanks for the suggestions. Will look at Nomatic .

Great tips! Disclaimer: My grandpa's house smelled like a hospital as he used ammonia and Lysol several times a day, so today as a germaphobe I use Lysol and ninety-nine percent alcohol in a spray bottle right as hand sanitizer typically only has about 65% alcohol. Also, don't forget to turn your work alarms off. There's nothing worse than waking up early on vacation when you could have slept in but can't get back to sleep because of the alarm.

One of the things I did to get an 'extra' bit of carry on was to save a bag from the airport general store. I bring our snacks and food in it. The TSA doesn't care how many bags go through the X-Ray as long as it's not contraband. The staff at the gate and on the plane see my Cibo bag and think I bought my food at the airport. But I love the tip about having a bag hanging from the seat back, although I recently bought Air Pockets on Amazon when they were on sale. I'll see whether they work or not.

Thank you for the travel tips. The luggage rack is a good idea. Never ever put your suitcase on the bed because the bag may have picked up parasites while traveling. OK go with me on this one. Luggage tags: I print up tags using the business card template on my word processor. Most leather or rubber tag holders use that size. I put my name and Destination (Hotel?) address on the face of it along with my phone number (in fairly small type, no everyone needs to know that number) At each stop along the way I switch out the tag for the next destination. I use paper not card and I can put all the tags in the holder at the same time, with the Next destination one faced Out. I put a nice number in a circle (like a logo) in the centre so I can see at a glance if I have switched yet. Colour printing makes it cool too. I also put a 8x10 picture of my face Inside the luggage. This has saved me twice now from folks who rip off the tags and claim yours as theirs. While it's true that some luggage does look alike, 99.9999% of all luggage does NOT have my face inside. I also brig along a dozen or more bite sized (like Halloween) chocolate bars to give as tips to folks where money doesn't make sence. or as trades to fellow tour mates Our Canadian tastes different to many folks and shows me as thoughtful too.

I always pack a salux 'towel' - it's made of scratchy material, meant for washing not drying. They're about a yard long so I can get my back. Take up almost no room in my bag. Gotta exfoliate even when I'm traveling. Skin doesn't take care of itself!

As an off airport shuttle driver, I absolutely detest duffel bags of any sort... Especially the ones with the rollers. I will take a regular suitcase with the spinning wheels and the new ones that you cannot break into. Yes, they're expensive, but they're worth it these days! I've had my luggage handle cushion for years and it's green. Awesome video!

I am team ROLLING DUFFEL all the way! Most of my travel is adventure-based (hiking, biking, beaching) and those bags are the only ones that fit all my bulky gear. Also, I had no idea travel sized Lysol existed!!! I usually bring alcohol wipes to sanitize my seat and rental car and I pack a full size can of Lysol lol I’m a fellow germophobe for sure.

Another tip especially if you’re an international traveler and a us citizen you need global entry which is $100 for 5 years and it also comes with tsa precheck and when you return to the USA you don’t have to stand on that long immigration line, you stand on the global entry line which takes about less than 5 minutes to go through

I like your tips....and you're not alone with the pillow case. Not only do I bring my own pillow case, but I bring a vinyl mattress cover protector, my own sheets, wash cloth and towel. I use nothing in a hotel and I'm afraid of carrying home bed bugs. The vinyl mattress cover is always in a bag by itself and I throw it away at the end my trip. I always put on the "Do not disturb" sign on my door, because I usually keep a clean room all the time. I don't need anyone to come in and re-arrange my stuff 🙂

Great info!! Recently saw a TikTok where tsa showed how you can use a pen to bypass the lock on the suitcase. Unfortunately, he didn’t say what type of luggage you should get. From what I can remember he said a zipper enclosed suitcase but I have no idea what that could look liks

I'm a unique case. I use a wheelchair. My hands are busy pushing me. So, rolling luggage doesn't make sense. I use a duffle on my lap when I travel alone. When I'm traveling with someone else, I use my rolling bag and just let them pull it. lol

OK, one quibble on luggage. If you are a frequent traveler, I highly recommend two-wheeled trailing luggage as the durability and longevity are superior to quad wheeled bags. It can be quite frustrating to navigate quad-wheeled luggage over non-smooth streets/surfaces. The larger dual-wheeled rubberized luggage easily trails and does not hamper travel on non-smooth surfaces. One caveat is that for super-large luggage over 50 pounds, the quad wheels are better for folks of smaller stature. Just know that the luggage lifetime is 2-4 years vice 5-7+ years for dual wheeled. Anyway, Love your videos and keep pressing forward. Cheers!!

I travel with my own neckpillow and with my own flight blanket. Lightweight easy to pack in my carry-on and it’s mine. I also travel with a pair of footies. If I have on sandals to travel when I get to my seat, I takeoff my shoes and slip on my Footies or if I have on sandals and I’m at that one airport that even though I am global entry asks me to take off my shoes. Recently, we’ve taken our wipes to wipe down the seat, armrest the tray table, and the screen on the back of the head rest, as well as the buckle to the seatbelt.

Global Entry is definitely more worth it than TSA Precheck, but keep in mind that TSA precheck takes about a week to get approved, while Global Entry takes about 6 months
@dgdw
@dgdw Жыл бұрын
One note with TSA PreCheck. For a bit more money you can sign on for Global Entry which includes TSA PreCheck. We’ve so far used it twice for re-entry into Miami airport. In both cases we walked past a lot of long customs lines up to kiosks with facial recognition. From there we walk past a final agent for a 10 second hello and we were on to baggage claim. Done and done 😁 Now that said I need to look into Clear. I DID see that in action at one airport and it DID save those customers time over TSA PreCheck alone

I went to Europe about a month ago, and I knew I was going to do a lot of walking while also having the possibility of carrying around items bought from a store. I decided to buy a lite day backpack that you can fold up into a pouch the size of a small purse. I was able to stuff it in my carryon, but when I was out and about on excursions I could carry around some more cumbersome things with easy by opening it up to its full size. Plus it became my 2nd carryon item that I could stuff under the seat.

Hands down the BEST travel hack video! Thank you thank you thank you. I only have a couple of things. For a long time luggage was black or red. Husband and I traveled a lot before we married and we both came with black luggage. He always had a thing of those plastic zip ties in many colors and used the colors for our initials on the handles. Mine are Red and Amber (yellow) and I don’t remember his. What color goes with M? We were married almost 30 years, he put them on a few months before we married and they are still there, indestructible, 30 some years later. I never mistakenly grabbed his bag and they are easy to see on the carousel, they are clipped and near the end of the handle so they don’t hurt your hand and they are cheap. Plastic, I know. But I will bet most of us already have some in a junk drawer/box/shelf. I forgot the other one and no doubt I will remember after I post this comment.

So for the headphones the key words are Active Noise cancelation. I emphasize active, because if you pick up passive noise canceling not realizing then they're not really noise canceling. Also global entry does include TSA Precheck, so if you're considering international travel it's a must have. I'm surprised you didn't mention travel credit cards. From insurances to free global entry/precheck and clear it's so handy to make your journey through the airport more comfortable and gives peace of mind with various insurances. No it's not gonna be everyone, but if you can justify it, I think it's a good way to do it.

I fly out of BWI (near DC) and I am able to use my Clear and TSA Pre check together to get the best result.(yes I have Global entry as well). Clear takes me to the front of everyone in the TSA Lines. Then, by having TSA pre check, I get to keep my toiletries, laptop in, and shows on. Epic!! Not all airports have the combo Clear snd TSA lines, but it amazing for me.
