I normally give a thumbs down to any video with a promotion within the first minute, but your humbleness in how you handled people who might have and/or liked things you believe are not good ideas in the first 30 seconds forced me to give you grace. Thank you for the unexpected, and I’m only :42 into the video!

I’m completely blind. I’m attempting to redo my 1300 square-foot apartment, but I haven’t seen literally anything since 2010. Everything from 2010 will forever look up to date in my head, and I hate it. Thank you for being so detailed. It makes my guessing game feel like a little bit less of a guess. Lol.

I dislike the terrazzo tile intensely. It *does* look like nougat! I'm currently planning to update a condo from the 90s that I purchased. The place is bathed in 'golden oak' cupboards, doors/frames, and woodwork. It fairly screams 90s style. This channel is really helpful.

While I agree with walk in showers (the only time I ever slipped in my bathroom was getting into a shower/tub - and I was in my 30s - I can't imagine trying to get in one now in my 60s!) ... I think for resale purposes, especially to families, a tub easier to bathe small children than a shower.

For bathroom rugs, look at Ruggables (or similar), which offers machine wash rugs. (Also, moisture not much of an issue in dry climates.) We have a Ruggables in our bathroom and it’s so much nicer on the foot than the tile it covers.

When I was looking for faucets, my husband chose one of those open spouts. I said, "No way." We also have mineral and lime build up and it would it would awful soon enough. I did not want a tall bowl for a sink either because I'm too short to reach over it. There are some designs that look interesting in a photograph, but really aren't practical for everyday family use.
@jcmhanel1
@jcmhanel1 Жыл бұрын
Amen!!! I am 5”2 tall and am just too short for vessel sinks! As far as the open faucet.. my daughter has one and the calcium build up is there.. I on the other hand might have one with no issue.. One, I am retired and have the time…. I keep a spray bottle of Cleaning Vinegar vs white vinegar, mixed with water. I use it around all my faucets to keep calcium build u at bay.. I use it and scrub my daughter’s open faucet when I am staying with grandkids. It looks great after. It just depends on whether you want to go to the trouble.. if I was a young mom again… no time!

@annschwankhaus3735 Жыл бұрын
Another negative for free standing tubs is that it's very difficult to clean the floor behind them. Plus, they all show side tables or a cross piece of drop in holder to put your soap on. I'd rather have a drop in tub with surrounding "deck" where you can put soap on.
@sarahrosen4985

@@annschwankhaus3735 see, my practical, I-don't-have-a-cleaning-lady mind needing to plan my bathroom remodel keeps coming back to 'how are you going to clean back there?!' @user-kpkxgtj
@user-kpkxgtj Жыл бұрын
@@annschwankhaus3735 I've always wondered about cleaning behind the tub. Especially in bathrooms where there clearly isn't enough room for someone to walk around the tub to clean the floor. I have the same "clean behind" issue with those vessel / counter top sinks too - more so when combined with a faucet that is mounted on the counter top behind the sink.

I can remember in the 1970s, most public spaces that I went to had terrazzo flooring.. in linoleum, or maybe vinyl..in squares. The scale of the colour splatter though, was much, much smaller than what I see today. When I see terrazzo, I think of my childhood. Puke/dark baby poop green is just disgusting, and some designers keep pushing it. My inlaws bathroom in a house they rented had1970s avocado in it, similar to what was on that tile. Our bathroom is white, light grey with black accents. NO NATURAL LIGHT in that room, so we kept it pretty light. The light grey is because our shower curtain has a slate grey image on it... it's almost black, but not quite. trying to save enough money to take out the built in tub, and replace it with the same size as the tub shower stall. None of us in the family can/like to tub soak, so NOT having to climb over the tub would be nice :)

I find free standing luxury tubs more of a sign of luxury, than an actual functional luxury item. Reality check, I haven't used a bath tub in decades why? because i'm 6'1 not 5'1 and if I can't get comfortable in the tub, what's the point? not to mention the taller the sides there ridiculously hard to get out of. On the other hand, large jetted tub's were a thing in the 90's but largely went unused after the novelty wore off while taking up a lot of space that could've been better used with a larger luxury shower that would actually get used. Personally, i've had homes with very large master bathrooms and homes small master bathrooms, and i'll take a large walk-in shower with temperature pre-sets with a water closet for the toilet any day over a large appliance that's not used in the space just to broadcast luxury.
