Finally a craft room that looks like mine. Mix matched furniture that I found or was given to me. I am sick of the videos of beautiful craft rooms with matching expensive furniture telling me how to sort and organise. Most of my craft supplies come from op shops and garage sales as i craft on a budget and this video was a breath of fresh air. Thank you for being realistic

I have a basement craft room also, with a canning room in it with a lot of shelves. I have and old dinning table, a old desk and a folding table. A friend of mine sold Me an old card catalog metal cabinet that is great for holding thing. But even with all that I’m also disorganized. But do plan on working on this.

Sounds great! I think we always need to revisit our space, especially after a busy crafting season. I hope it all goes well. Thanks for watching Patricia. Happy crafting 💖😉

Great information you have given us all. I have a friend who did her craft room this way. She used dressers, desks, file cabinets and whatever she could get her hands on and all for free. It worked. I've used plastic drawers from yard sales, metal shelves my husband got for free, a pretty good size cabinet my husband got for free and boxes that I cut the top off and set them all on their sides and stacked old t-shirts for future quilts in them all and for all my craft books. It all works.😃Take care and God Bless y'all always

Thank you for saying everything does not have to match. Boxes can be painted and/or covered with contact or scrapbook or wrapping paper. Buying containers (shelves, bins, etc.) can get astronomically expensive! The tip to return things where they belong and having a place for everything (even extra, empty space) is so wise. Your practical wisdom made this my most favorite organization video I've ever seen.

I'm disabled so I can't work on my craft room like the average person. So, I start at the door and work around the room. Small sections at a time. It may take me awhile to get it done,but it will get done doing it that way. If I just went crazy on my room,I would just make a bigger mess and get overwhelmed.

I have defiantly made a HUGE mess while cleaning a mess 😜 it becomes so overwhelming!! I like your idea of doing a little bit at a time!!! Thanks for sharing Dorisann 💖

One thing I learned this time around, while organizing, is to use painters tape to label everything, temporarily. When I first started organizing, I used fancy labels. But as I changed things around because supplies wouldn’t fit or I had moved them to a different spot, I had to redo all my labels. Now as I organize, I use painters tape and label everything. File folders, boxes, drawers, page protectors, anything I use to store my supplies. That way, I know I can change the label really easy while I find what works. Once I am done and used the space for several months, I will change out the tape for those fancy labels.
@creartivebynature Жыл бұрын
Yes, excellent idea!! You definitely have to remember to change out the labels once you have it figured out. I did this with sticky notes once, I left the sticky notes on forever, LOL 😜 then they'd fall off, ugh! I love this idea though. Thanks for sharing 💖

absolutely LOVE YOU!!! First, I love your glasses!!! You look so very comfortable and relaxed!! Your so correct when you say that most of us do not have a Heide Sonbul Craft basement, (nothing against Heidi, I love her channel and she deserves everything she has worked so hard for!) I really needed to hear this; my crafting room is begging to look like a hoarder's dream! It was organized, then I ran out of room and started putting stuff in boxes then boxes on top of boxes...then bags on top of the bags...until the entire right side of my room is just a mound of chaotic craft supplies!! I am like you, I like to see what I have, mainly so I can grab stuff at a glance or get inspired while working on something... My problem is containers and shelving!! I am taking notes on the way you organized and implementing them in my room!!! The one tip I can give is to not forget hanging storage!!! I had my hubby put together a square wooden rack, picture a hanging pot and pan rack.. but on mine, I hung all my dried foraged flowers/greenery on one, foe flowers in another and baskets that hang off of hooks filled with more flowers! so when I'm sitting down, above me are all of my beautiful items! feels like an arbor or hanging garden. you are right when you say make the room yours! we spend so much time and money working and making our crafts, the very least we can do is to make the room a safe haven! i will post pictures of what I have done with some of my wreathes, baskets and flowers! I took that idea and made another hanging rack in other rooms of my house! not only does it look very decorative, but it keeps my mind focused on what I have every time I walk into that area! again, thank you!!! Your my absolute favorite creator on KZbin, and I value you and your genius creations!!! Melinda From Maine!!

Aw, you are so sweet Melinda, I appreciate it!! Great idea to use the space above us if we can. I personally can't, it would cast undesirable shadows for filming, but it sure is a great use of space if needed. I am happy you found this helpful. And don't worry, I love Heidi too, her space is GORGEOUS!!! Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care. 💖 PS. the glasses are from Dollar Tree 😄

Happy New Year Donna! We all seem to "let go" of our organization during the holidays due to being so busy creating. I'd rather have a messy craft room and have had fun creating than having a cold, sterile craft room with no inspiration. I limit myself to 15 minutes a day of clean up time when I'm doing the whole craft room. That way I won't get overwhelmed. I can quit after 15 minutes, but usually I keep going for much longer. Just knowing I can stop is enough to make the task less overwhelming. I'd love to see a tour of your overflow space! Blessings always, Helen

Hi Donna,love your video. You are so right about the different spaces. I use a sun room for my craft space and it is a great challenge as I only have about 1.5m wall. The rest is glass, so I cant put shelves up. I have boxes standing around and if I look for something, I have to unpack the whole box. I would love to see the video about the app. That sounda like a great idea.

Happy new year, Donna! Thank you for sharing your practical craft room organization tips, and especially for keeping it real! Crafting gets a little bit crazy and I love the junk container idea. Zip bags! Having items in clear bags makes it easier to see what is in a drawer or box. Extra small bags for beads etc can be purchased at Walmart or Dollar Tree. To save money on bigger bags, I wash out bags I used for sandwiches and food storage etc and reuse them. I also have a basement area so some lightweight items, IE stuffing, pillow forms, rolls of paper, get placed on the ductwork or suspended from the ceiling. Weird but it works. Each fabric is placed in a clear bag also and then put in a bin. I have one for prints, colors, holiday and black and white. But I will confess, I still have a messy room but I can find things!

@@creartivebynature I was able to fit everything into tubs that went into two new bookshelves that I got from Walmart. $150 for everything organizational and the bookshelves, but it was well worth it! I did find a lot of things that got me excited to do more projects (my stamp collection definitely)! Good luck with the rest of your organizing, I know how time consuming it can be! It took me two full days to get everything in order, and I don't have that much project stuff 😅 Thanks for the video 😁

Hey sugar, love your videos. I just watched the stink bug blooper. Get yourself some all natural neem oil. Mix neem oil 1 1/2 teaspoon to dish soap 1 teaspoon in a quart spray bottle. Mix well then top off with warm water. No more bugs. Soray your plants as well. Good for them. Not safe for cats. Not th!t I have cats. Allergic to the nasty critters. You can use this in your kitchen as well. Just not on top of surfaces. Underneath is good.

You say I have bought so much craft supplies that my entire home is overwhelming. My Intent was to start a KZbin channel, but I don’t feel I can be creative until I get out from under the clutter. 🤦♀️🤷♀️
@creartivebynature Жыл бұрын
I totally get it. Maybe make a little space and just start making a few things? Once you have a few videos ready to go you can post once a week or once every 2 weeks? Then you can continue to work on your space. I've done that before, especially when I have a big task to work on. I build up a surplus of videos so I don't get overwhelmed trying to do both. Hope that makes sense!! I hope it goes well Chris. I wish you the best on your KZbin journey!!! Thanks for watching 💖🤗
