MUST SEE: The Rebbe reacts to President John F. Kennedy's HISTORIC announcement

Torah teaches that the whole world was created for the sake of the Jewish People’s service of G-d. President Kennedy’s establishment of the US Peace Corps serves as a reminder of a similar call that has been made here… For years now, I have been saying over and over: Don't convince yourself that you can live off the “fat of the land” and serve G-d in comfort here... Listen! There are spiritually “desolate lands” where fellow Jews are wallowing in spiritual poverty. The Mitzva to love your fellow Jew applies even to someone on the other side of the globe whom you have never met. Torah demands that you love him exactly as you love yourself! So give up your own comforts and devote yourself to helping your fellow Jew who is in need. And with your love of G-d and your love of a fellow Jew, combined with love of Torah and Mitzvos, we will end the exile which was brought about by unfounded hatred, and bring the Redemption through unbounded love. 14 Adar, 5721 - March 2, 1961

I was living in New York at the time. Their was no teshuva movement. The Jews called irreligious Jews bad names and had nothing to do with them. The Rebbe was the first one to say that we must spread Torah to others

A fascinating video; I never thought of the aspects that the Schluchim and the Peace Corps have in common. If I’m understanding the Rebbe correctly, it’s almost like he’s saying, “What does this say about us that a Gentile leader of America is encouraging people to do something that we ourselves are not doing ?”

What a giant this man was. An electrical engineer teaching the fine distinctions in Torah so deftly, as though to make its deepest lessons as well as its simplest ones easily understood. Thank you for posting this video. I am left wondering the degree that The Rebbe explained “love yourself”, a phrase he used herein. What constitutes adequate self-love? It must be, as Torah implores with nearly everything else, in moderation. I welcome any constructive analysis. Thank you, kindly.

I can understand that people didn't want to leave the Rebbe, abd venture off into far off lands. His teachings were as water to thirst even if we don't realize we are parched. How much more do our remotely located fellow Jews need to be quenched.
