Yes, although she said not to try it with hot press bc it won’t work, that’s actually incorrect. It’ll work on any “press “ of paper, it’s the cotton value that is important (not whether it’s cold or hot press …or even rough). The cotton is what soaks up the paint & allows it to spread, bored, and blend so beautifully. If you’re using cellulose papers (ie: Canton XL for one), those leave the paint sitting on top of the paper, therefore, they don’t bleed and blend properly, bc they’re all kind of in one big “color pond/water pool”, if you will, on TOP of the paper. Get 100% cotton paper, like Baohong, Fabriano, Arches, etc (there many brands - some very affordable- just make sure it’s 100% cotton!) and you’ll be ok!☺️ and you won’t believe the difference in cotton v cellulose! Get ready to be amazed bc if ever you tried something before and it didn’t work, and you thought it was just you…well, it’s likely it was just your paper!😉 happy painting to all!!🎨❤

Thanks for another wonderful xmas theme watercolour video. The gingerbread man looks so real... and delicious. I can see now how important it is to add a touch of darker colour and blend it to the main colour to get the shade effect. It really pays off as the subject looks more real. I will try your demo soon.

I use Pēbēo drawing gum, found on Amazon. I’ve had wonderful luck with it. It’s never torn my paper, always works well, and I take mine off by rubbing a “rubber eraser” (also found on amazon) gently over the top. Comes right off. Love it. Hth

Of course! Masking fluid just allows you to paint over the top of the places you want to keep white. Just use care while going around the white spaces, or use white gouache, or even better (IMO) Dr Ph Martin’s bleed proof white at the end to draw in everything white.
