If you’re new here we’re James and Alex and today we're sharing a must visit region in Japan 2024! Come to the Japanese Alps with us and visit snowy Matsumoto and Takayama, also known as little Kyoto in Japan! These place are a little off the beaten track and not as well know as Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. But they are SO worth a visit, especially in Winter where the snow just makes everything feel like a winter fairytale.

It amazes me that travelers know about these places . Me and my japanese girlfriend didn't even know about Takayama even up to last year. I guess tourists do a lot research lol. I will definitely check that town in the future.

Hehe yes we tend to do a lot of research in advance! We actually did decide to do this a little last minute though, we wanted to see the Japanese Alps as we heard so many good things about the whole area. We loved it! We would love to go back again and see it in a different season too :) Hope you make it there!

Travelled by bus from Takayama to Matsumoto last year...mind officially blown...loved that trip so much I am doing it again this year. Those Central Japanese Alps are beyond amazing!

I was thrilled when i saw your video come up as i havent seen one in a while! Looks beautiful especially in the snow! How do you find out about these places, just using google or have other people recommended them to you. Hoping to go in 2026, this year and next years trips are already planned, but i cant wait to visit Japan in winter. Was recently telling a friend about you guys and your travels and now they want to come with us too! I have to ask James, what is your heritage?

Hey Joanne! Ah thank you so much for the kind words. It means so much :) The snow really did make it extra special. We tend to do a lot of research on blogs, KZbin, social media before we visit a Country and find out the places that look interesting. Really hope you can make it to Japan in 2026! That's so great about your friends too, sounds like it will be a fantastic trip. James' heritage is Chinese-Malay, his father is from Malaysia but heritage is Chinese :)

Awesome video, lots of great info - thanks for sharing. The bus trip between Takayama and Matsumoto looks amazing, is it windy (thinking about people prone to car sickness). Thanks also for the recommendation on the hotel in Takayama, the room size is phenomenal and as someone travelling with kids the washing machine is ace!
