Thanks for showing me Phenix! After watching for a few minutes i siddenly realized that this place used to be called Pantip Plaza. Bangkok's original IT mall dating back to the 1990s. I used to come here for all my computer needs back in 96 when I returned to Thailand from the US. It used to be a go to place for customizable built to order computers and accessories and softwares. Quite packed everyday with a decent food court too. Then everything moved to Fortune Town. Seeing this clip, I'm going to have to return to check it out! 😀

@@ChovyTravel The new renovation looks modern. There are more restaurants than before. The ground floor is still the same. In the past, it was used to organise events, discounted items, escalators are still the same. Old shops have not been seen because in the past, there were only electronic shops. Overall, it looks better. It's worth getting more promotion.

@@ChovyTravelI went there in 2020 after the first wave of Covid. The mall was more than half empty. At that time the shops still sold computers and related items. Then the owner closed down and renovated to be food related mall.

Thanks for promoting this mall. It was trendy back when no one shopped online. They sold mostly computer stuff. Things have changed a lot now the management team is trying different ways to survive. Hopefully, they will find something that works.

It used to be main portal for PC components and etc, but past their prime for several years now after online shop platforms come into action where you purchase and make delivery on your doorstep. Once in a time, I carry my PC case here by domestic bus (not a taxi) to fix cpu fan problem. The place is notoriously known for one of the most traffic jam area in Krung-Thep 😂 although more accessible by BTS skytrain it didn’t help much. Now the owner renovates the building to new concept of food portal of things.

As others have mentioned, this used to be Bangkok’s preeminent IT mall, before being supplanted by Fortune Town which you have already visited. After being renovated. the new concept is a food business matching venue with a great food court with many unique food vendors. I.e. not those usually found at other food courts. I’m not surprised that the tourist crowd have not really found it yet, as it just recently launched.

Yes! I think it’s definitely tourist friendly! If we lived nearby, I would definitely visit a lot more often. It’s a cool place to hang out and chill.

This building used to be I T MALL FOR MANY DECADES as I remember is like 30 40 years. Lately they’re sold it to. Beer Chang group and renovate to be Phoenix . It is same owner as One Bangkok project near Lumphini park. Even I didn’t have time to visit these 2 new places you, thank you for showing me.

You missed out on the Rad Na noodle gravy with wide rice noodle where you got your boat noodle tje best one i like is the Rad Na with crispy wonton noodle with fried egg on top with pork.

You know? The Indonesian embassy is right next door. The Indonesian restaurant here is run by an original Indonesian company. Since many Indonesian customers come here to eat, it must be original food.

Honestly,the weak point of newly transformed IT center to become a mall,still at risk,as long as the transportation like BTS or MRT still not connected.We look forward to seeing a great strategic policy to offset its location.

Some food courts will let you use a card to load money and use it to buy food. Some will let you exchange the money for coupons. But all in all, if there is money on the card or coupons left that you haven't used, you can exchange the remaining amount for cash back. You don't have to use it all up. I've seen some foreigners not know that you can exchange it for cash back.😊

@@ChovyTravel Yes. Mostly the expiry date is the date you can redeem the money back. Usually you can redeem at the same counter or if not the same counter, it is usually in that area or you can ask the officer where you redeemed the money. Some places limit the redemption to the same day or within a certain date. I don't understand why most food courts don't have signs informing tourists.

This is the old Pantip Plaza that was known for bogus and real software, CDs, DVDs. Past its heyday, it was bought out by Charoen of Thai Beverage Plc. He's got cashflow to see it near vacant for perpetuity.

Was in Bangkok till yesterday and hated it. They only want your money and so rude. Bangkok videos are one thing but reality is so different and ugh the smell of the gutters

@ChovyTravel Thanks for the reply, went to BKK with a group of around 10 people and stayed at Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Every time we wanted to go some where we were ripped off. Imagine the drive to Icon Siam from Baiyoke cost us 1350 for 10 people, I can go on and on. Hotels were no better.
