Ian Paice and Peter Hoorelbeke are the two best drummers. You need to check out Rare Earth's "Get Ready": "I Couldn't Believe What Happened Last Night" and "Ma". Ritchie Blackmore and Terry Kath are the two best guitarists. Check out Chicago's "South California Purples". Rolling Stone Magazine rated Ritchie #50 in their list of top 100 guitarists. Proves what a joke the magazine is.

first of all you are cool man :) you are character. Now, what you heard here is a pale copy, or deep purple making a mockery of their song. Listen to Ritchie's legendary guitar solo in Child In Time, on Deep Purple In Rock album. Ill tell you one thing only, not to spoil your exhilarating experience, (if you liked this live performance the album will blow you out) he is not playing his guitar, he is telling a story, you will see.

YES to this LFR Family ? You MUST do this. ! Original album of Jesus Christ Superstar... Ian Gillan's best ever vocal is NOT a Deep Purple song. It's "Gethsemane", from this album. BTW: If you EVER have the chance to get tickets to a classical music concert. I don't care if you like the genre. But hearing that LIVE is a surreal experience. Also important to note that, as far not picking hammer on/offs is concerned, it's easier to do live at high volume. I think sometimes people who don't play guitar see someone do it live and assume it's fake/mimed when the guitarist just uses their fretting hand to hammer on and off.

It's great to watch another convert to the brilliance deep purple held in this era...... this is when rock turned to roll as well........Ian was a true generational talent and the only fail is there aren't yet enough dedicated believers.........

Welcome to my favorite rabbit hole. "Lazy", "Space Truckin"", "Speed King", and "Burn" are worth a listen. saw these guys twice live. Did this one both times. About ten percent of the crowd knew what was coming both times. And the rest responded like you did. If you reax to Deep Purple, I'll watch.

This was a recording for a TV show, therefore the audience had been told to be quiet.

You can't go wrong with Deep Purple mark 2...get the albums Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, Machine Head, Who do we think we are and Stormbringer and take a listen. Just an incredible band of some of the finest musician's you will ever see in my humble opinion. Their live albums are also very memorable especially Made in Japan which is most of the Machine Head album.

The audience didn't know what they were going to see on many of these ancient British TV shows.

I love your reactions and comments...they were hilarious. I read somewhere that the audience was told to be quiet for recording purposes of this performance.....and yes, this brother (Ian Gillan) can sing, (Ian Paice) kicks donkey on drums, (Jon Lord) is a nasty dawg on organ, (Ritchie Blackmore) can play guitar better than most with one hand, and (Roger Glover) on bass holds it all together. When these guys were together, Deep Purple was one of the best bands on the planet, and 'Child In Time' was one of the best rock songs of all-time.
