Brings back memories of going to this mall back in its heyday. Dad would take me all through the mall while mom shopped. The glass elevator at Dillard's was the first one I remember riding (but not too fanatically interested in the elevators otherwise). Also brings back memories of having worked in the closing Columbia MO Sears during summer 2018...that was an experience believe you me. Thank you for sharing.

The company I work for currently leases out the majority of Sears for warehouse space. The elevators are back in service, super cool to be able to watch this.

Is the company that you work for leasing out the Sears in this video?
@drew_barringhaus53162 жыл бұрын
@@MrEngineer20051 yes, the space is split between a few companies, with the entire upstairs and the majority of the downstairs space leased by us.

This place doesn't really look that abandoned. It just looks vacant.

The Entire mall building is about to close permanently for demolition please also do a mall tour beforehand
@MrEngineer20051Ай бұрын
I am aware of that. Once I figure out when exactly the mall is closing to the public, I think about doing a tour video before the mall closes to the public. Fun fact, one of my friends who is also an elevator enthusiast like I am knows the owner of the mall, and we might actually be getting permission to go into the mall with a couple of other elevator enthusiasts/elevator nerds after all of the power has been shut off to take apart the elevators to get some of the parts. Hopefully that plan works out, and hopefully I'll get some videos of that.

I wonder what the old Dillard’s looks like inside at that mall. I heard it was suppose to reopen but never did.

All I know is that there's a glass Otis Lexan in there with an epic motor.

Very cool! Btw both the elevators are super under-level because when the store closed, techs came in and lowered them to the bottom of their hoistways. That's necessary for when a building becomes vacant
@EWPA143 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if that was the case because w/ the passenger, the lights were still on. I think he said in the video it had something to do w/ oil leaking. And for the freight, it was under-level at the top floor.
