The Heller excel legend really is the dogs bollox of rasps - keep it in a sleeve and look after it, and it will look after you. I use mine for shaping hardwood tool handles, rather than hooves, and it does a brilliant job.

I have a Heller file #2115 and I can't find what its intended use was, would you have any insight? It doesn't seem to be a rasp and it will take down metal. When I visit the Heller website all I find are rasps and the history online doesn't offer much.

Heller Files used to be made in Newcomerstown Ohio by simonds. And before that by Heller brothers. They manufactured more than just hood rasps. I own many Heller tools.

It’s too bad they are no longer made in Newcomerstown Ohio by Simonds. The Street where the factory was is still named Heller.
