In all honesty, were the şehzades better written this interaction between Mehmed and Mustafa would've happened a lot earlier. Because, yes, I can see evidence to support how, out of all his siblings, Mustafa might have a bond of sorts with Mustafa and Mihrimah, but it probably would get ruptured as much by the competition for the throne as that, at the end of the day, both of Hürrem's children would always defend her.

Everyone including Mustafa’s idiotic mother kept blaming Hurrem for Mustafa’s position when her and Suleiman’s sisters caused him most harm. Mahidevran sent Mustafa to fight Suleiman on her behalf, for something she was at fault for actually then whined that this caused a rift between them. Hatice and Sah recklessly plotted against Hurrem, giving her an upper hand which she could use against Mustafa and leaving Mustafa bare and unprotected to take the blame for their actions. Hatice abducted Hurrem and Sah used Mustafa to set a trap for Hurrem, but then blamed Hurrem that this backfired and that she used it in her favor. They were all selfishly after their own interests, playing games to satisfy their ego without having a second thought about Mustafa and how this affected him but had the audacity to pin it on Hurrem.
