The IRS will actually take a different flange than the stock live axle. You may contact a custom driveshaft shop to have a new one made or modified to work.

I have a 1970 Mustang Notchback with a 351 cleveland 3 speed manual C-4 trans. 9" rear 28 spline shaft. Where can I buy a complete balanced aluminum drive shaft with yoke? Or do I have to have one made? Thanks.

Question, why is it specified for manual? Don’t replacement aftermarket driveshafts fit both manual and automatics?

Orlando, rotational mass is very important. Anytime an engine or motor has less mass to turn, it will "free" up power because it's requiring less energy to turn. -Landan

Orlando, I used the wrong terminology earlier. It doesn't create power, it simply "frees up" power because of the light weight aluminum. -Landan

Basically it reduces parasitic loss.For instance,when the car is advertised at 225hp but puts down 180 at the wheels,that is parasitic loss.Lighter parts alleviates that.Why not do that from the factory?Cost.

why are the stubs on those aluminum driveshafts staying perfectly straight and the one on the old iron driveshaft flops under its own weight like it should? are you guys loading up the ujoints with too much force?

Why does the 31 spline yoke look longer?

It is very obviously longer. Recommending that you should use that yoke if you have a 31 spline output shaft is concerning. The bellhousing and transmission lengths matter here, in addition to having a 31 spline output shaft.

if i buy your M-7003-R58H TREMEC 5-SPEED EXTRA HD TRANSMISSION for my 95 mustang gts do i still need to lengthen my drive shaft or do you have one the right length. Every were i read says i need to lengthening the driveshaft by 0.625'' but i want a solid one piece drive shaft [ sorry new to building ].i just want to get my mustang back on the road

I got a question about my 89 lx suddenly my automatic transmissions started doing only 2 hears and won't go into 3rd and didn't want to go reverse either what can the problem be?

Bushing that holds the cable into the throttle body is broken or the cable is stretched and needs to be adjusted.either one can end up blowing the transmission in only a few miles of driving and are cheap and easy to fix.A blown transmission is not.I had to rebuild mine 2 years ago because the kickdown cable had stretched itself out

I am almost positive they make one for all 99-04 mustangs. You should be able to use it an automatic but I am not totally sure.

Will the m-4602-j fit an 03-04 cobra, I have bad u joint eyes and want a all new shaft

Unfortunately, no it will not. This is what our website shows for fitment notes. Fitment Note - Will NOT fit 1999-2004 Cobra with IRS - Will NOT fit OE T56 or T56 Magnum transmissions - The u-joints on this drive shaft are a sealed unit and do not have grease zerk fittings. - Definitely will NOT fit 03-04 Cobra. Some 99/01 Cobra owners have reported the M-4602-J Driveshaft will fit unmodified while most report that the M-4602-J needs to be shortened 1" to fit the 99/01 Cobra

+joselikescars Absolutely! Many cars over the years have featured aluminum driveshafts from the factory. 99-04 F-150 Lightnings even had aluminum driveshafts. So yes, they will hold up perfectly. -Landan

When he first started this video the car was sitting in the other direction but due to him leaving them standing there unsupervised they both fell over and broke the glass and scratch the door and the fender , they put the car the other direction and you will see this bloopers 2019
