@@stolensilver6963 It is always very comfortable to judge form the couch. She had a few mustangs before so it seems understandable that she didn’t know what to do when her usual method didn’t work. That’s why she asked for help and that is a great attitude. Your attitude is terrible though.

Boy, she’s really protective of that eye. Would LOVE to see you in a mustang challenge!!! Was hoping to see some of her liberty too.

I have a very dominant mustang mare. What did I learn: - Don't overdue it with liberty work - Trust is hard earned. Expose the mustang to something where you can proof them that you are the leader. - Think about anything if you can ride it. Mine jumps over anything, so I really had to make sure that there is not a big outbreak after the jump - Small steps. We humans - including me - are sometimes too greedy and push too much. Fix everything. - Trust, trust, trust. I mean really. I can go on a solo ride with my 4 year old because she trust me. We still need to work through a lot, but she trusts me and that is the most important. Mustangs are amazing. Mine taught me a lot and I ride since 50 years.

A great example of why ‘desensitising’ is not equal to training.
@shelm-b8p3 ай бұрын
I completely agree. I have a mustang mare. I stopped to "desensitize" her because she didn't read me. She just figured out that this item would not harm her. The main issue was really trust and not the flag or tarp.

Conversation is what is required between 2 parties to come to a consensus and an understanding. Both parties need to be treated equally for them to contribute equally. I think humans often forget this when working with other animals. If someone can't speak, you need to look carefully to understand what they are saying. This video does a great job of showing that lack of common ground between both parties in the conversation. In a way, it is the same when dealing with other humans. If we only concentrate on what we (as individuals) want out of a conversation, there will never be a mutual understanding between both parties. If there is no mutual understanding, there is no common goal. If there is no common goal, the outcome can become messy. This seems to have been a great case in point and something we can all learn from. Thanks.
