Yes, many novice kayakers and paddleboarders end up on the news because they don't understand how deadly spring and fall water temps can be. After 20 yrs of kayaking in the PNW, I've owned several drysuits, but would highly recommend a semi-drysuit for (non-white water) kayaking. The only difference is a neoprene neck gasket, which is far more comfortable than latex.

I can see how neoprene would be more comfortable but so far the latex hasn’t been an issue for me.
