My favorite Beads video and really helped me understand how to utilize it. What a brilliant module. It seems to morph and adapt to what your patch is doing. Amazing. I got Marbles recently and I can't believe I've gone this long without it. I feel like it unlocked my system. Especially my other Mutable modules. Rings, Plaits and Beads with Marbles. Just pure, unadulterated beauty

Perfect. I’ve long resisted Beads as everyone has it and it has a very specific sound however I’m working on a project at the moment that incorporates a load of acoustic instruments running through my modular. Really glad I have a Beads on the way. Looks perfect.

Nice video! Can you tell something about the way you are getting your mic into the input?
@mariusrbech5732 жыл бұрын
Must be a routing on the sound card or a daw that sends the mic to the modular

Useful. I just received a Beads module that I purchased used. Based on your video I can see that it has certain similarities with the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator, which I also have, although the SWN is significantly more complex.

Hi Taches, great in depth review of Beads, sold my Clouds and Monsoon a while back when i got my Arbhar (which I absolutely love) but had been sitting on the fence a bit re: Beads, as most of the other demos I have seen for the module had left me feeling a bit underwhelmed and uninspired by it, but your demo is the first one that actually made me want it! - Oops just pre-ordered one, got to find room for it in the racks now!! :)

Great video. Just what I was looking for. Kinda on the fence with Beads. I too have a set of Native American flutes, and a lap steel. Great to hear some of the potential. I have a Microcosm, and am getting Pamela’s New Workout expander with the midi out to sync with the Microcosm (and a TC Electronics Triple Flashback). I wonder what magic could happen with both Beads and Microcosm together? Will experiment with the Microcosm and the expander before I take the plunge. Thanks for time putting this together.

hi ! i am enchanted by the demonstration around 19:20 with the flute running through beads making that excellent ambient scape - i am interested in making a mini-synth as a sorta introduction to the world of modular synthesis & i was wondering what other modules aside from beads you'd find useful to create such scapes? (i do have acoustic instruments of my own !) thanks n lovely video n demonstration ! -synth beginner ready to learn

Lovely sounds. How did you do the sound on sound. Does the module remember what's in there (i.e. when you unfreeze) and you can then 'overdub' and freeze again (sound on sound?)
3 жыл бұрын
You know, I can't answer this question honestly because I really don't know. Beads is a device that as many times as I read the manual and as many times as I think I've figured it out, I'm always surprised. I THINK that, depending on buffer size (dictated by quality mode) and the FEEDBACK amount, you can incorporate into the next buffer both the sounds previously recorded and sounds coming into it. HONESTLY, I have no idea though! Every now and then it just blows my mind and does, maybe not what i'm expecting, but something that makes me go; AH. Cool! Glad I bought this! Sometimes though, I try and recreate what I had going before and I just can't haha. Hope you're having fun with your baby!

Beads sounds amazing and your acoustic recordings are really nice! When you record the flute, is that going through your audio interface, then into the eurorack? If so, what is the eurorack module that is connected with the audio interface?

@bebop73 жыл бұрын
28:00 you're not getting pitch warble because the pitch is set at the beginning of a grain and held through the whole grain. so with long grains the pitch modulation is more like a detune.
@bebop73 жыл бұрын
in fact, all parameters are captured at grain seed, so grains which are playing will never change as they play

Really nice demo, mate! Just got Beads as one of my first modules. Can you explain how you're sending the input of your mic into beads? Are you using one of the extra 1/4" outputs on the Clarett going in beads using a 1/4" TS to 1/8" TS cable?
