I swear it's like Rings still has secrets to give, after all this time. Made me completely rethink about how to use this module all over again. Phenomenal work.

I like using Rings as a send effect, sidechained to my kick. It's waaaay more versatile than some of the people who've grown tired of it would have you believe.

Another cool trick is using a negative CV for the frequency. You can get it low enough to hear individual echoes!

Superinteresting video, because I did not see any other person doing this yet. Sounds a little bit like a spring reverb with modulation possibilities.

I bought Rings because I love the sound of what I've heard here on YT, but after I got it myself I've had a hard time finding satisfactory ways to use it in my music, but I've also never given up on Rings, want a reverb module, but also have no space unless ditch unaffordable sounds or functions. So thank you for the free of charge solution : ) !!!!!

That is beautiful. Mutable Instruments has really made me excited to start my own modular synth.

Nice to see someone else running a guitar into Rings! Makes sense if you think about what a resonator is. You can get very similar results using comb filters with the feedback up as well. I've experimented quite a lot with the VCV version of Rings and guitar, but I found you ideally need to feed it some pitch CV, otherwise you get this harsh, nasal quality where it's resonating at the same fundamental frequency all the time. You can either use a pitch to CV module (not sure if that's available as a real-world Eurorack option) or just quantised CV in the same scale you're using on the guitar. I like to use sample and hold, and you can get nice mellow bell sounds randomly dinging as you play. The reverb probably isn't my favourite sound, but still a cool trick. Rings is the gift that keeps on giving!

Man, I was about to remove Rings from my rack, but this video (as well as the video for its' hidden easter egg features) changed my mind completely. Thanks!

Wow, I think I may buy a mutable rings, and I might put mutable rings into the noise engineering versio product line too if it hasn't already been done

Was never that interested in Rings because I’m not into the Mutable oscillator sound. But this is exactly my type of (spring) reverb.

Nice demonstration of a great idea, with lots of possibilities, ... & too, and, if a person has hands free, while a sequence (one example) is playing, to adjust some of these ranges, on the fly, (adjusting with the cadence of the beat) .. can make for more of a musical effect. Or, a Doepfer A-177 foot controller works too, for changing settings, if a person is manning an instrument, in real time. Thanks, much.

Made music on this thing for 4 years now. Horrifying how much it can do yet how simple it is.

great stuff! thanks for the video. however it seems my rings has an issue, it keeps strumming randomly in this setting, where structure is anywhere else than zero.. its very weird.. have you encountered something like this?

I haven’t had an issue with this yet using different input sources. Have you tried lower gain levels?

@@TravisKennedyMusic thanks for the hint! I gave this a try, but it's the same. I think it's just my unit, as it's a DIY. I need to get this fixed somehow, something is not right there :)

@@racalik Also try a dummy cable into the strum input. That should override the auto-strumming derived from the audio input.
