I discovered that giving a specific item to certain characters usually end ups in an insane looting. I'm talking here 6 food and water. Deck card for Ted because he is a good gambler and he will go at the tavern for it. Then harmonica for Janes. I haven't experimented much with Dolores or Timmy but I know timmy can sometime make an insane loot run with the boy scout. It's usually better to wait for radiation to die down before letting them going with items. I'm not sure there is a correlation but I personally think that the lower/danger is, the more optimal it is to give a special item to the one who does a loot run.

So here is a tip about mutant Mary Jane: She is more likely to become mutant if she is tired or sick. It can happen through the spider scenario or a leaking pipe scenario (do nothing). After becoming a mutant, she does not need water at all, is immune to sickness, tiredness, insanity and injuries but she needs a lot more food. She will always come back from an expedition safely and the bandits will not dare follow her to the shelter. She can also make the raiders go away if you have no other protection. After she comes back from scavenging, you MUST feed her because sometimes she might eat a family member if you don't give her food. Do not talk to her as she is not very sociable and will run away, hurt a family member or rarely just do nothing but don't take your chances.

TIPS: There's a way to scavenge without the raiders ever finding you; go out every 5-7 days and the raiders won't be able to find you. MMJ has to eat but doesn't have to drink. Remember to feed her, especially after a scavenge otherwise she might "eat" another family member. MMJ can protect you from raiders twice before she runs away. Give Ted a deck of cards,MMJ/MJ harmonica and Timmy the boy scout book when scavenging. MMJ is not quite sociable. Don't talk to her otherwise she might run away, hurt a family member or do nothing rarely. Test your luck. Also, if you take the rock from the old bum, there's a higher chance of positive outcomes happening. Hope this helps!

Under new game > challenge > survival, there's literally a preset 100-day challenge that hooks you up with items and Pancake already in the bunker. You can keep doing it the way you are now if you want to make it harder on yourself, just letting you know that this challenge exists in game that you can win new skins for.

If its okay I would like to suggest a challange that combines 2 of my favorite series currently; 60 seconds and Kurokos basketball (anime) The Generation Of Miracles challange! Days 1-10 Seijuro Akashi! You are the captin. You call all the shots and don't need help from anyone. Don't accept trades, suitcases and only help people if it benifits you (for example, if the 4 armed survivors come, help them as they will help you in case of raiders!) If the twins call you can answer if you want. Try to choose more violent options. Scavenging is optional but send the kids first. Days 11-20 Tetsuya Kuroko! Don't draw attention to yourself. You don't want to stand out, choose the least violent options and help anyone! Even if it doesn't benefit you, helping them IS the benifit. Get pancake if he shows up! He will be number 2. Open the door for anyone, even the "merrymen" Scavenging is optional, but send Ted or Dolores. Don't send the kids. Days 21-30 Shintaro Midorima Make smarter choices, don't open suit cases, don't go Scavanging unless you have confirmed with the radio that the air is not radioactive. If you need to save something save your 'lucky item' (Lucky item will be the med kit. Gotta tape your fingers for some reason😂) Scavange as much as you want. Days 31-40 Ryota Kise Help as many people as you can, you want to be humble. If raiders are at your door, don't use the lock. "Copy" them. If they have Guns, use the gun. If they have axes, use the axe. If. Only if there are NO weapons are available you can use the lock. Scavange as much as you want Days 41-50 Atsushi Murasakibara Your a little lazy. The whole "surviving" this is too much work. No Scavanging in this stage! You snack a lot, eat everyday (you can either feed only one person or the whole family. That choice is yours. If you choose to only feed one everyday, feed everone else every 5 days (follow your normal schedule, but one person eats everyday)) If raiders come "crush" them. Meaning you can't use the lock. Use the axe or the gun, if neither is available just hope your mutant buddies are there to help! Days 51-60 Daiki Aomine You are a little over confident. Only scavange if you absolutly need to (like if you only have 1 or less can of soup/water) Only help friends, like the twins. Or help girls. If raiders come use whatever you can. The weapos are your first choice, but if neither are available use the lock. You win if you survive 60 days. Pancake is optional in any, but required for Kuroko. I had an idea back when Jay first did this that I thought would be cool. It's rather basic, but incredibly difficult, where you have to play on Tsar Bomba and can't bring any water/food into the shelter. You can bring anything else, flashlight, kubz scout book, etc, just no food or water. You rely solely on luck for the first few days but I find you can never get a LOT of food and water, either one of the two or none at all. We underestimate how much those starting waters/foods really help and Jay forgetting food in the first run reminded me of that

For the attackers thing, I’d say use the gun first so when it breaks you can use the other weapons while the days pass by giving more of a chance for you to repair the gun while still having other weapons to use, cuz if u use all the weapons first then the gun, then there’s not a very high chance you can fix the gun.
