First song in, and this is what I was waiting for. Finally the sitar has an identity, creates an atmosphere, and overall the songs while they may have the song writing quips here and there, this album works well and is a cohesive masterpiece. Oh and oh, the changes made in the older songs are noticed and well appreciated. This is awesome. \m/

So this is gonna be a long review. First of all, really amazing work you guys have put in. A year ago i would never have though that someone would combine these two genres together. Now as a sitar player, I know how difficult it was to create this album. Some songs are just spectacular, like sound of scars and the fall of sirius. Now what i thought that was lacking was individuality. Now, you could argue argue that you do have various styles in each songs, and each one is different. And i completely agree , when you listen to songs like sound of scars for like a 100 times (like me), you appreciate the fine nuances. But to a common person, who has no knowledge of music, it sounds the same. That's the only negative thing i can think of. To end this, i just want to say that you guys did an incredible job, I would have liked it even more if you guys had switched up , or rather added a few more songs experimenting properly (i do not count calypso) in other sounds,genres etc.Taking the madness of many as an example, some of the songs you have to hear it over and over to fully love it, just like your song. However like they have a range of songs, from ectogenesis to arithmophobia to braindance, each one has an individual identity.Not to say that your songs dont have that, they do. Its just that it somehow feels like a continued song at some parts, which is not to insulting you in any way, as it is fabulous. I would have enjoyed it even more if you had added different elements, like your post rock. Everything else from harmonies (fall of sirius) to amazing breakdowns (sound of scars) to melodies (in silence...) it had. But great job, i aspire to make music like you in the near future.

Drumming is too damn good.....its so so aggressive, though the sitar wants to take the attention but the grooviness is getting controlled by the guitar and the drum... it needs more listening....very good work on guitar and drums. blending sitar to this project is an creative initiative....But i would love to listen to this album minus the sitar... may be few songs...but good work guys
@EscargotVonKaninchen7 жыл бұрын
I'd actually love to hear the sitar more, (I mean in the production), the guitar and guitars sound really typically modern metal and we get the impression to have a sitar placed at the end, above a guitar/drums background tune (even a good one). It would be really cool to have less reverb on the sitar and less compression on guitar/drums !
@DrTacoPHD6657 жыл бұрын
Sounds like what Shakti would have come out with if given another 50 years and extended range guitars.
@spacecadet88438 жыл бұрын
I think that sitar seeing as it is a intrument usually used for folk music would best be used with a similiar effect that Amocualli use, not just as a sort of other guitar.

Praise Mute the Saint. This music is an important development. Whereas previous Hindu metal had either included too much jazz fusion elements or too much Western standard metal influence. Or, had been a 90%/10% mix of western style and Indian style. I would estimate roughly that this here is 30%/70% with mostly Indian style. I hope you add vocals to it, mostly Indian-style beautiful singing, with full lyrics not just solfeggios and swaras, along the lines of light classical bhajan music, and really great poetry. With vocals you get out of the technical music trap. With poetry added you get alot more emotion and alot more mystical effect. I am sorry to offer requests, it isnt fair because nobody writes to other bands with requests, however, since you have offered up such a most important prototype development in music where collaboration might help other metal bands develop in the new genre. So, maybe turn down distortion just a very little. The drums and the attitude alone can communicate that it is metal. I want to get questioning myself, "how is this acceptable as light Indian classical", and "how is this acceptable as metal", while being certain at all times that it is not fusion jazz of course.

The idea of putting a sitar in metal is awesome, however I wish they were a little more creative with the songwriting. It's basically just someone shredding a sitar over standard "djent" beats. So tired of hearing the chugga chugga chugga chugga shit in metal, am I the only one? Either way props to whoever is playing the Sitar here

@Atmost117 жыл бұрын
A couple things, #1 they did do it the other way in a lot of the sections. #2, they had a marketing imperative to make sure everyone understands what it is quickly. #3, the memory of that will fade a little after you hear it a few times. #4, we are all very hungry for this kind of thing and the genre is still in the prototype stage.

oh you're the guitarist? no wonder you disagree. melodic instrument always comes first, rhythm is after
@Capt_shred8 жыл бұрын
2ndPortal ok bud well, as you can imagine it was quite a challenge to bring an acoustic instrument to the front of a heavy metal mix without making it sound like a disjointed mashup lol I feel I did pretty good at making it all cohesive 👍🏻
@2ndPortal8 жыл бұрын
you can make the siter more present by using a compressor and a little bit of drive with some clever eq. i love the album and it sounds massive for sure but i shouldn't be putting any kind of effort to hear the sitar and sitar has soo much depth in it's sound compare to distorted guitar which is dynamically flat
