Love your tips. Even artists who reach huge audiences feel insane amounts of pressure. I’ve seen so many “big” artists vanish for months because they couldn’t cope with the pressure to always be better and provide more and “feed the monster.” So whether big or small, it’s a struggle. The general public doesn’t see it because not everyone shares that side. I love when you speak about these issues in a wholesome way ❤

I want to come back here again as I was just watching and listening as if you were talking to me. I do feel pressure to feed the social media monster to be seen and to share and share as I want to do art full time but by doing so burnout can come quickly. I feel that it's sometimes so hard to balance creating content and personal wellbeing. Such a thin line. I do enjoy creating content but I am in the phase where I feel if I will stop for a week or two I feel so much will change. I am so grateful for my Patreons and agree for what you said they help and support my creative journey, like a big family, I feel happy to have everyone there and you as well. And I am also happy to support you on your Patreon! Thank you for this beautiful video and message. About the watercolours - they all look so beautiful! That reed buff is gorgeous! Im sure you will have a lot of fun creating with them.

Hi Kriksis!! Ia m sharing with you the same comment that I shared with others here: Hi all 😊. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for commenting. I’ve been wondering how you manage all this! I really respect that you are all discussing your burn out. To all content creators: just remember, if you do decrease the number of uploads, we will still be here and you will still put a smile on our faces when you upload 🙂. We do not expect you to stop your lives and engage solely with videos and social media. Also, I, and probably many, many others, do understand when you do not answer our comments; I/we know that you can’t possibly respond to 100+ comments. Greetings! I wanted to express my deep appreciation for your captivating videos. Your undeniable talent shines through in each one, but what truly captivates me is the harmonious blend of background music and your soothing voice. It creates a tranquil atmosphere that keeps me fully engaged and at peace. Your use of moody colors resonates with me, as it mirrors the essence of my own photography style. Having dabbled in drawing and sketching in the past, I recently made the decision to reignite that creative spark within me. I've come to understand that art can serve as a powerful tool for healing, particularly for those who have endured trauma. With my newfound collection of art supplies, I eagerly anticipate exploring my own artistic expression on paper. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the dedication and effort you put into crafting these videos. The time and energy invested in this creative process may often go unnoticed, but please know that your content has a profound impact on many of us. It has been a privilege to stumble upon your channel in the vast realm of KZbin. Thank you for sharing your artistry and inspiration with the world.

As someone who mainly produces short-form art content for Reels and Shorts the burnout discussion is so incredibly important. I'm lucky with the fact that I can batch content and film most of my videos in a single day most weeks but long-form art content that simply isn't doable. I think it's incredibly important that we make the art we want to make because it can be so easy to want to change what we create to feed the algorithms of various platforms. As artists I think its important that we remember to take time for ourselves especially when creating.

The paints are beautiful. These swatches could be lovely postcards. 😊 I always enjoy when you chat whilst swatching, but the music is nice too. I've always marvelled at the expectations people have of content creators. Do more of this, do less of that, reply more, change your posting schedule to suit me better. I'm just happy there are so many people sharing what they do, for me to enjoy when ever I have time to sit down and watch. Expecting more is like expecting a friend to make time when I have time and not realising they have a life too. It is good to keep making people aware how much time and anergy goes into making content. Have a good week, we've had more sunshine lately, hope you too 🥰

its always a joy to watch a new video of you, no matter how much time passes between videos =) forced content usually feels a bit off if it happens more often. ive experienced this with other channels im watching. i rather watch one video a month knowing the creator actually enjoyed making it and wasnt stressed/in a hurry rather than having 2-3 uploads a week that just feel like mass-produced. its like in art, an original holds a higher value than a mass-produced print =)

It's easy for those who don't create content to forget what a gift it is and what hard work it is and the level of commitment necessary to keep doing it...especially for free. It's really a challenge to do something like this on an ongoing basis. When do we take a break, a sabbatical of a sort? Because when we do, the algorithms work against us and there goes our audience. And I produce weekly articles/newsletter, not a weekly video. I thought about doing it but then just what you are talking about changed my mind. Thank you, as always, for your honesty, creativity, and commitment.
@NatashaNewtonArt Жыл бұрын
This is exactly it, Paula! It's easy to make a few videos, but to keep doing it for years, consistently, is when it becomes more of a challenge. This is why so many creators start channels, and when they realise how hard it is, they just stop uploading. And as you said, we can't take a prolonged break, because the algorithm will punish us! It's interesting that the most demanding comments or those that are harsh or hateful ALWAYS come from people who don't have channels themselves.

Stunning paints! I love this swatching method. I would imagine that it is far more enjoyable to you as well. I mean, who doesn't love creating botanicals? As for burn-out, kudo's to you for taking care of yourself and knowing your limits. Your content is always so meaningful and soul nourishing that I am more than happy to patiently await your next post. I would hate to think that I would ever contribute to someone's unhappiness due to my lack of patience (well, generally, I don't tolerate incompetence very well). The points you made about what artists need to do in order to be successful these days is exactly what keeps me from ever trying to KZbin. I have a tiny Etsy shop that I recently started and hope to find a gallery, but that will be the extent of what I could ever do. At the tender young age of 67, I don't have the energy nor the desire to deal with it all.

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful watercolors! I think the social media monster has a bottomless pit for a stomach. Hehe. I appreciate any content you're able to make and share (the same with other creatives I enjoy). So thank you for taking the time to do so. I learned through February and March that not allowing myself enough downtime to rest in between drawings will burn me out and exhaust me. So I have made a rule for myself to allow the process to take the time that it takes and forget social media's demands. I don't have much in the way of a following or anything but I just can't feasibly output constantly.

As a retired elementary art teacher, your video filming and editing process sounds very much like my lesson planning and prepping materials for each grade level for each week. Can't say I miss it all. Am still trying to deal with the trauma, stress, and burn out after being a puppet for District for 30 years. And getting rid of all the art stuff I purchased over the years to keep my program afloat. Gave lots away but still have far too much stuff. Just now getting back to art for me and me alone but it has been hard to do with chronic illnesses (CFS/FM, chronic migraine, et al) on top of a mental block left over from harsh/sarcastic voices of college profs and their minions in my head.(I was self taught and didn't have much of a clue about techniques, etc.) Comparing my art to others like an older cousin who could do anything and everything in many art mediums and do it with excellence. Watching your lovely "swatches" are just the ticket, though, for me to boost my courage and start again. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us and for your encouragement.
