Mutesa II statue moved to pave way for road works

Kampala Capital City Authority is set to relocate a historical statue of Uganda's first president Sir Edward Muteesa II from the Speke Road roundabout in Kampala to pave way for road works at the site. Kampala Capital City Authority is undertaking a project of replacing selected roundabouts in the city with signalized junctions, including that at Speke Road which is adjacent to the Independence monument near Sheraton Kampala Hotel. This is aimed at improving traffic flow in the city.
