I like this guy... simply because A) he doesn't just match someone else's rig, he thinks about the physio of what makes sense, and then makes it himself... and B) every time you go out, you must assume the world record of the target species is gonna hit, and say, have you done everything you can do on your end of the equation? .... and C) sometimes you stare at that knot you've tied a million times, but see it didn't lay down nicely, or causes a small about of chaffing when the knot slides... and you say... gotta do it again!.... These are mental sicknesses I 100% relate to every single time I go fishing...

Thanks capt mike! Great tips. I live on big pine key, so we are fishing the same water! I also have been working the mutton bite, but really only when on the reef concentrating on yellow tail and grouper as primary. Our mutton success has primarily been free lining a pinfish or fresh chunk of something. Love the loop tip on your braid, I was going to try a quick release sinker rig. Also appreciate the bank sinker recommendation. Tight lines!

I realize this particular video has been up for a while now so I hope you do catch my message; will you kindly tell me more specifically the specs of the rod you displayed. You said it was a Chaos 7 ft. 15-30 lb. rod, but what is the power and the action, I checked the line up in the store online and there are several 7ft 15-30 rods, I want to purchase one...Thanks.

Great video. Very informative. How much drag do you use initially? We use quite a bit of drag but we seem to have a lot of pulled hooks. I'm thinking I need less drag until the fish makes it's initial run, after which I should crank the drag down.

Awesome video. Im curious, how was the snap swivel connection to the loop knot if you didn't have to open the snap to get it off?
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 2 жыл бұрын
You have to open the snap to put the loop on but you do NOT have to open the snap to remove loop, simply slide the loop along the metal and around the bend and BAM! Its off. Thanks Mike, great seminar. New to saltwater fishing and a big fan of downriggers. I'm thinking a downrigger would be a great alternative to the lead weight on the main line. What are your thoughts?

Down rigger to 150+ feet? You need to avoid tangles not create them. Also once the downrigger pops you will have a bunch of slack line.

@FishinPugs
@FishinPugs 2 жыл бұрын
@@FloridaSportFishing thank you for the response and I will elaborate! First off talking about anchoring for mutton's while drifting is one of my favorite ways to fish for them the most productive way is to anchor once you know where the mutton's are. This provides your bait to stay still longer and more time for them to get comfortable with what's going on. My biggest problem is you saying DON'T use frozen bait! I beg to differ while fresh bait is preferred frozen bait will 100% get the job done. But what do I know! I'm not able to count the number of mutton's I've caught 10ibs plus let alone the one's 15 to 20ibs from jupiter to the Tortugas and up in the gulf. P.s not trying to hate but being truthful
