I hunt Allegheny National Forest PA. I am also getting to old and bad knees to drag. Debone on spot this year. Put in game bags threw in pack. Left all waste there for critters to eat. I will never drag or pay a processers again. Love remote hunts. Happy New Year brother.

My gun likes 80 gr. Of powder. Most folks thinks you got to have at least a 100. Round balls rarely pass through especially if they are cast fairly soft which are the most accurate. They flattened out some and the hide usually holds it in. Enjoyed the video man!

Glad you got your doe and made it back in good shape. A couple years ago my new boss wanted to go fish a creek that was pretty well known for small mouth, so I invited him out for a canoe float. He took the front and the rod and I took the back and the paddle. Now, it's a pretty fast running little stream in some places but I was managing the bends and upturned tree roots and such until we got to a certain bend with some faster water and upturned tree roots. Boss said, "think we oughta carry?" "Awe, trust me Joe." Well, we ended up pushed into a giant tree root in deep fast water, teeters a little bit, and over she went. Both of us came up but on the way up a root ripped my pocket and I lost my billfold and all my summer wages. Never did find it. Don't know what he lost but it didn't do his camera or cell phone any good. Now, I'd spent a big part of my childhood on that creek and thought I knew every Bend and turn. But things change over the years. Come about dark and I finally recognized some funny rocks that I well knew and we had come well past our takeout spot. Besides that the water was full of logs and roots and stagnant snakey looking slough and we didn't even have a flashlight. Boss said, "I can hear the highway, we can walk out." "Nope, not me. " "well, what are you gonna do?" "Well, I'm not about to wade through those waste deep weeds after dark and without a flashlight. Those eyes glowing over there on that opposite bank don't look none too friendly. Think I'll pull this canoe up on that gravel bar and use the moon.ight to watch my feet for snakes until daylight." Well, we spotted my friendly neighbors 4 wheeler lights and paddled to them. But the worst thing about everything, the whole affair, was that my wife had gotten worried and checked the houses up and down the creek and splashed the whole thing all over the internet, "Larry reese, lost on the Barren Fork!" I will never again utter the phrase, "trust me Joe, " and I will never live it down.

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors you know that wasn't all of it. After we dumped the canoe we were floating along, turned another corner on a good fishing hole and saw a lady and the darndest sight you ever saw. She invited us to get out and fish with her. She had on a straw cowboy hat, a pair of cowboy boots, a kerchief around her busom, and a pair of cutoff jeans cut so high you could see her neckline. She was alone and she was adamant that we get out and fish with her. Now, I was casually acquainted with the lady and knew she was a big Tom boy, just as comfortable around men as she was around women and that she wasn't thinking anything about it being somewhat improper. She was friendly to everybody. But she hadn't been married long and she and her husband were already having trouble. We made our salutes, gave our apologies and excuses and I paddled that canoe out of there like a 4 horse outboard. Joe laughed at me and asked why we didn't stop to fish. I told him I'd heard her husband was mean but I knew my wife was meaner. Sad to say, but that lady and her husband did get a divorce. But I guess everything turned out OK. Heard she moved back to her home state and was making a good living driving the Amish to get their groceries.

@@larryreese6146 yea i bout had a ruckus once cause this ole gal aske me to take her fishing in my boat on Facebook. My wife came completely unhinged and gave that girl an education on who I belonged too and i felt like a slave on an auction block. I looked to see if i had a tag somewhere but ole girl decided she didnt like fishing as much as she thought she did.

That's a cool way to hunt Justin . I don't have many areas like that at all in our area and those are private only. Does the swamp have a creek or river that feeds it? Brody was a happy farmer 👍 Gave me a big smile seeing him enjoy that tractor!! Was gonna hunt this Saturday but believe their calling for rain tho. Thanks for sharing.our season ends on the first ..

Nice one Justin, there’s not much more satisfying than bagging a deer with the cap and ball. Our alternative season opened December 24th and runs through Jan. 3rd. We can use bow, black powder, pistols, revolvers. Up till today it has been brutally cold, tomorrow there calling for the fifty’s. Heat wave I’m going to give it a whirl with my new to me Thompson center 54. Cal. White mountain. I have killed a few with my 50. Cal. Hawken. And the front shoulder shot is the best in my opinion, behind the shoulder with round ball most of the time they will run off and die but not leave a blood trail. You have really got to look for them.

the one i shot with a 50 cal. went through. i shot one last year with my 54 at 93 paces, the RB went through. entered the point on the front shoulder, the deer was quartering to me, and exited the third rib on the offside, the 100lb doe still ran about 70yds.
