Soooo good 💜 DOPE (like FIRE and Baepsae/Silver Spoon) sound like party songs, but within the lyrics they are often critical of society. In DOPE, when RM says “giving up on 3” and “giving up on 5” he’s talking about the different generations. Like our generation in a way gives up on the 3 (relationships, marriage, and kids) and even a younger generation that give up on 5 (relationships, marriage, kids, house and social life), due to difficult and unfair job markets. Even in FIRE when they tell you to go crazy, and live life how you want, “it’s okay, I’ll forgive you”, in South Korean society, there is such a harsh school/work mentality and the suicide rate is absurd. It’s this reminder that they try to instill in the younger people who will then have to become adults with an already preconceived notion of a life only for work. 💜
