I can't describe how long I've been waiting for AJ/Gikwang to have a solo. Dancing Shoes was great but he'd come a long way in BEAST, so I wanted to see something new. Finally it's arrived, and it's great! It's amazing how HIGHLIGHT (formerly BEAST) was known as the "recycled group" at first. Look at how far they've come. They've accomplished things that even the most experienced and famous K-Pop artists haven't.

I only learned of it at the time through pure coincidence. They were sometimes referred to as the "recycled group" because all of the members had either already been in a previous group, been a solo artist, or have been meant to be in a group but been cut from the team before début. I believe that this term was often used with a somewhat negative connotation. However I'm bringing it up now to contrast how a group once referred to with this name not only became so successful (and also as individual artists) but absolutely smashed expectations. I don't mean to downplay BEAST or the individual artist's solo activities beforehand at all, however in a sense it's almost a "rags to riches" story. I get all nostalgic thinking about their progress over the years. :')
