Spiral, Blackheart, Doom and Cable were the main reasons why Magneto+Psylocke were studied and became such a thing. The Mags rushdown was one of the few things that prevented those 4 from getting their startups. Storm was sprinkled in there too but she was always an all-arounder and Sentinel eventually joined her when he was unlocked.

A win is a win at the end of the day, as this isn't the 1st time VDO lost to somebody mastering distance tactics. So it's respected overall in mi eyes. But I didn't nickname VDO *Top Tier Killer* just cause he's earned that total title himself. I also did it cause players like DUC can not overall increase their chances of wins without the top tier characters being used(even if it's 2 out of 3 on the team), rather they actually get most wins or not. While VDO puts in more effort to T.A.S the fluff out of the game & his characters, regardless of the outcome for him. A perfect example of this is in match 4 of this video, when DUC goes in for melee tactics against Ken(As he mainly does this to on Ken & Colossus), as soon as he/she realized Ken was getting the upper hand, he went RIGHT back into his distance tactics. Keep in mind, Ken was the only person VDO had left before DUC eventually won the match. 💩 like that is why I have more respect for players like VDO. Cause they gotta work harder to make players like DUC use Batman prep to win against people like them.

Marvel spectators hate keep away/zoner teams. You should see how much hate ChrisG still gets for the Morrigan/Doom combo in MvC3. Duc makes it look easy but other Spiral players (some of whom VDO have fought) can't keep him out and get run over. Duc's an Evo champ for a reason, hehe

I think it’s relevant to how much people actually know marvel. OGs will recognize it as high level zoning play. Marvel casuals will see it as cheap / top tier / boring / etc. Can’t please everyone but honestly just gotta see it as it is. Two players who respect each other getting in some good matches. Guarantee you VDO wants no pity, because otherwise you put him into this box of if he wins he’s the better player but if he loses it’s because the other player used top tier and was being cheap.

give it up to DUC. The guy is a monster. Also, gotta just marvel at what VDO does with his team and just never gives up. Both of these know their teams like no other and are legends in their own rights. As usual, VDO knocks the sense into people in match #1 but unfortunately can get outclassed by top tiers. Truly tho that is not always the case. The guy knows how to transition and is amazing at punishing assists with Rogue. With that being said, DUC is a master at his craft and synergy. The fact VDO didnt get chipped as much as DUC opponents normally take is a testament to his knowledge and skill. So glad I was able to witness this. Both showcased their dedication to MVC2 in amazing fashion.

This is a good showcase of why god-tier characters with broken mechanics dominate MvsC2 and player skill only goes far. Spiral isn't god-tier but Duc's team is because he designed it and maximizes it around his Cable/Sentinel. In a Mag/Sent/Storm/IM Fly meta trap teams usually fare poorly at the very top. In Duc's team Spiral is mainly a battery for Cable/Sentinel, the trap can be escaped with Guard Canceling but she builds bar either way. Duc's waiting all the time for Cable's broken Alpha Counter Psimitar into 1 frame AHVB happy birthday into Guard Break AHVB, gg every time with enough bars. VDO's team simply doesn't have the tools to keep Duc's team from working consistently.

While ya comment does have good reasons in stating whatcha stated, they're factors missing from this. For example, does DUC have more loses(While using more than 1 top tier character)against mid & lower tier only characters, equivalent to the amount that VDO, using only mid/lower tier characters, won more against those using only/mostly top tier characters? @@gravity-zero2917 Honestly, seeing the first match, I did NOT know who would "reign on top". It wasn't so long ago that even run-of-the-mill Sentinel teams would give VDO fits. After learning his partners can anti-air and clear the skies, that he can use a "snap back" punch to make Sentinel exit at will, and at least SOMETIMES checking to see how the health of a partner he's about to DHC in actually is, VDO slowly began regularly beating such teams. In the past 2 or 3 years, VDO discovered Rogue has a combo-able command grab that grants perks. Wait till VDO discovers Colossus has hyper armor, and can resist being juggled and plow through projectiles WHILE delivering a "snap back" punch ...

VDO's team has very poor neutral against Duc's team. Duc does not need to get in your face to do damage. In fact, leaving any space between you and Duc's character always favors Duc, no matter what the situation is. Just look at the Colossus vs Spiral matchup: Colossus literally has no options against Spiral. Rogue can at least air dash and dive kick, and Ken can at least close the gap with air tatsus and ground rolls, but Colossus simply has no chance of getting in. When you're playing a 2 vs 3, it's clear which player will win most of the time.

I feel like I watched the same match like 8 times. VDO's strategy never changed. Granted, neither did Duc's, but that was because Duc's was working. It felt like VDO's strategy was to pray Duc made a mistake instead of forcing Duc to make a mistake. Hell, maybe the call was to start Ken over Rogue and use Rogue's grab assist to slow things down.

That whole interaction is amazing. Duc sets up the full screen guard break into hyper viper on incoming. VDO reacts with super to avoid the unblockable, Duc reacts with delayed DHC swap to avoid being punished and get the punish himself. Two of my favorite MvC2 players and this entire set was just full of crazy shit as should be expected from these two.

spiral builds the meter for cable while chipping you at the same time , if colossus power up spiral can just teleport to waste time too and cable can use all that meter for the kill , duc team is a very thought out team if not the best

Its like Spiral Sent is the pre-cursor to Morridoom. With Cable in the user spot for shear damage output. Yeah, scimitar is a nice assist, but AHVB has always boggled my mind. They straight said "OK, we have a guy that can chain supers together from a full screen away" and that was something they are OK with. If MVC2 was from an era where DLC existed that HAS to get patched day zero.lol

You have to "tiger-knee" (QCF + UF) AHVB to chain supers. The developers never intended to allow Cable to tiger-knee AHVB, since the concept of tiger-kneeing specials/supers was a glitch to begin with.

Ive only played matches against a spral, sentinel trap once. Im pretty sure they weren't on the same level as DUC. But it was very frustrating. Its also not easy to duplicate on a high level without consistent practice obviously. Because ive tried. Ive had an easier time doing strider doom trap.

This was the most zoner match I've ever watched in my life in MVC2. I'm getting to know this DUC in this match, he looks like those players who chose EASY mode (commands with just one button). What an ugly, meritless match. With so many projectiles, even the Servbot character would have difficulty getting through. The funny thing is that there are people who think the zoner tactic is beautiful.
