Midwinter cruising-you never know what you'll find. The weather may be cold and dark but Mr. Sully keeps it light. Who knew he was a Chelsea Fan? As to derelicts, a marina upstream of us went out of business 15 years ago. The owner disappeared and the authorities have been unable to locate them and hence, no one can agree who is responsible for the clean up. During the recent storms, a 60-foot chunk of it complete with shrubbery and large rusty nails, drifted downstream and wedged itself between our boat and the shore. We radioed a local guy with small boat who came and towed it over to the opposite mudbank and parked it on the flats. I hope we don't see it again but there's more where that came from. Thanks for another great episode, guys!

I was wondering if you had considered ceramic coating the exterior painted surfaces down to the waterline. The way it protects cars by repelling water and dirt is it possible it could reduce the cleaning maintenance? I’ve lived most of my life in the south end of Seattle, when god said he would never let it gain for 40 days and 40 nights Seattle was excluded in that contract. I like the way the Nordoff boats, but if money were of no problem, a Flemings 65 footer would be on my radar scope, there are many reasons for that decision, right of the top of the list would be the amount of redundancy of all the operating systems on board, and it having 2 main engines, i know what the cost of living is in King county, and it’s one of the reasons I don’t live any where near there, so it makes good sense to live on a boat if you can get a place to dock for a $1000 bucks a month, any higher then a small apartment would make better sense, thanks for reading Lyman from Moses lake, Washington

Do you guys ever get frustrated by the limited speed possible with the Nordhavn? They seem like great boats, but other brands would give similar distance cruising performance but the option of higher speed when desired.

No, we don’t mind 7 knots and find that the time flies by while cruising. When we get stuck at 5 knots or less, then things feel a little different 😉
@Scruffers20113 жыл бұрын
What other boats in that size range have a similar range but higher speed?
@marksanderson51353 жыл бұрын
Fleming 55 is a bit bigger, but same sort of range at 7 knots, but tops out at 19 knots I believe. Not sure of the range or ocean going of a Krogen express, but similar I think
@Scruffers20113 жыл бұрын
@@marksanderson5135 yup I can see an advantage to having the option of higher speed at times, to get out of the way of weather for example, or to be somewhere on schedule. Other than that, I think higher speeds also have higher risks in Puget Sound with all of the deadheads (partially submerged logs), and other floating debri.
@earnestmetz98343 жыл бұрын
@@marksanderson5135 I was thinking Fleming 55 also. I realize there probably isn't anything in the 43 foot range that has the ocean crossing capability of the Nordhavn, but the idea of being so speed limited under any condition seems a big compromise. Too bad Fleming doesn't make a 45!

But the best thing was that they gave us all the questions that would be on the test, and of course the answers. Important because at that time there were several questions that you had to mark one of the wrong answers to get credit for the question. Others had no correct answers and they would accept only one of the incorrect answers. Thanks to the school, I scored 100 on the exam. Take care and STAY SAFE.
