For some reason, Radio Romania Actualitati MW relay in Jucu near Cluj-Napoca, broadcasting on 1152 kHz, has been running with its audio processor disabled on the evening of June 14th, 2024, as the station was carrying the Euro 2024 opening match Germany vs Scotland. As a result, instead of usual 5 kHz, the audio bandwidth put out by this transmitter was a whopping 15 kHz!
And you can really hear it, maybe not as good during the commentary, but music sounds just A-MA-ZING!
I only wish I had a better reception of this station, and the MW band in general, at that moment. My SDR was plugged to the 3-element Quad for VHF FM band, which should work OK as a passive receive loop for MW too. But something was wrong, either with the antenna or with propagation... Normally, the Cluj relay of RRA would blast in like a local!
Received at 20:00 UTC June 14th, 2024 in NE Poland using Airspy HF+ Discovery & 3-el Quad beam for FM.
