Normally, 1341 kHz is dominated by Radio Kuwait 2nd Programme here in Poland. But look how it gives way to Islamic chanting, a 4+1 time signal and an ID of Idhaat al-Quran al-Qarim min al-Qa'hira, at 19:00 UTC Thursday May 2nd, 2024, only to fade back again & allow an Idhaat al-Bernameg al-??? (to be deciphered) ID from Kuwait.
Later throughout the evening, I had a mix of both Kuwait and Egypt on this frequency.
1341 kHz is listed as NMA Al-Aghani, or Songs Radio, but according to MWLIST, it broadcasts for 12h/day only, with the other half of the day (17:00-05:00 UTC) filled with Holy Quran Radio relay. Obviously, if you hear Quran on 1341, you can check if it's parallel to 864 kHz to confirm the station. In this case, it wasn't needed 😉
I may have logged Egypt on 1341 in the past, but never had any recording of it, nor any notes, and I haven't started using MWLIST to keep track of my MW catches until autumn 2021. Therefore I consider this reception from May 2nd, 2024 a NEW LOG.
Note there are 3 (!) more MW transmitters listed from Egypt on 1341, all of them carrying either General Programme (// 819 or 1080 kHz if that's better for you) or Holy Quran in the skywave hours. But all of them are listed as 10kW, while Songs/Holy Quran from Abu Za'abal runs with 100kW. Besides, at 2594km, Abu Za'abal is my closest of all four NMA (ex-ERTU) transmitter sites on this frequency.
Received at 19:00 UTC May 2nd, 2024 in NE Poland using Airspy HF+ Discovery SDR & 12x4.5m KAZ antenna beaming ~180deg.
