If you invest over $800k in US you're eligible for a EB-5 visa which will lead you to acquiring a green card. All land in the US, except native American land, you have to pay property taxes every year depending on the valuation of that land. This is one of the main reasons why land and properties are not over valued.

When the deal is so sweet think twice-- It's always never greener in the other side of the "pasture"... Dallas_Mashamba is not talking about property tax that the government will tax you continuously even if you not developing that land, again.. he says you can build a house 300k and sell it at 600k... bro in USA it doesn't work that way.. property is valued too according to location and closest amenities available; security, weather and many other factors determine the market price!! DETROIT kuna keja ya $50k but weeeh... ile kipindi utakua umejiweka imeshinda riparian lands in Nairobi City!! THINK TWICE!!

Buying land away from the city can be tricky. There are very many abandoned properties with houses, pools, and lakes, yet no one wants them because of the commute to the city. It may be worthwhile to hold on to the land until the city comes to you. I know someone who owned a lot of land and was offered lots of money for it, but he declined to sell. He died of old age about a year ago. He had no family in the US, so your guess is as good as mine as to what happened to his property.
