MWO 1930 100 inch Footage

Some video treasures from the vault: ~1930 footage of some Mount Wilson luminaries working with the 100-inch telescope. Milton L. Humason at the Newtonian focus, Francis G. Pease at the Cassegrain focus, and Paul W. Merrill at the 100-inch spectrograph at Cassegrain focus. Rights for these reels are owned by the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.

As a someone who still exposes sheet film, similar to glass plates, in astrophotography, this footage is inspirational. Milton Humason came from humble beginnings to the front stage of cosmology in his time.
