Good stuff, thanks. The overhead guard on my slider is a little different. It swings on the vertical post i.e. the post which determines the max width of the piece on the RHS of the blade. Your setup allows you to swing the guard out of the way from your normal operating position which looks like it would save a lot of time compared to mine which requires a walk around the front of the saw. All the best. Cheers, David.

Wanted to mention that the Altendorf's I have worked with both had saw slider bearings that were shot. So keep after them. I have Felder and Martin machines going into a US Oneida cyclone into a 55 gal barrel. Oneida has a vacuum hose hooked to a gage for inches of water vacuum and that tells me if my barrel is getting full. There is yet another Oneida sensor that sets an alarm when the system is getting full. You may want to check out Oneida as I find I lose lots of time when I plug the cyclone and have to vac it with the Festool. What do they say, "a stitch in time saves nine."

I've got the factory option on my Robland z300, which is even beefier as the dust goes through the steel at 100mm diameter. It pivots out in the same way. The main thing I like about it is the safety - don't find the extraction to be a large amount better from the couple of times we have used it with it off, I think thats mainly because the extraction at the bottom of the saw is so good anyway

Good to see you have made gates with the three different joints that we discussed on here recently. I use four 14mm Sipo dominos per joint on my doors and Ireckon they'll outlast me. Maybe your trial will last longer than the Joiner!
@ManorWood
@ManorWood 4 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree , I haven’t used the sipo’s much before as they are so expensive and I tended to make the mega domino then peg it , but for the purposes of this trial I thought it was more practical and useful to just use off-the-shelf sipo’s .. video coming very soon on gate 1

I have the same/similar guard on my panel saw. You certainly do notice the difference with dust extraction with the guard tight down to the material. All the stuff that fly's up the back of the blade goes straight up the guard instead.

It’s a great looking saw guard. I made a gate frame with Sipo dominos and epoxy adhesive and it’s still looking good. Seems a dust bin full alarm is what you need.

@@ManorWoodI made my gate and installed it during August 2019. The frame is made of 2x6 and 2x4 Western Cedar, it’s about 123 inches or 3124 mm wide, 69 inches or 1753 mm high. The frame members are fastened with 14mm Sipo dominos and epoxy adhesive. The frame is painted with spar varnish. The Cedar pickets are attached to the frame using stainless steel screws.

Nice upgrade, a must have for a panel saw! I’m surprised the rl125 keeps up, but looks like you really need the bigger rl with the auger and press to make briquets, you’d probably make a bit of cash just selling them in winter for people to burn!

Do you ever wish you had the larger version of the saw? I understand with panel saws its about space and use but wondering if you ever feel that the case in a usability sense.. I'm considering a slightly smaller panel saw, would like to hear your thoughts!

This has a 3m slider and I modified it to take at 450mm blade (which I only use on the odd task) , I would love a CNC saw but money and space is a problem, for the size I still think it’s the best option.

Hi, only had time for a quick view so forgive me if you mentioned it in the video but what wood are you using for the plunge pool? I'm hoping to make a wooden hot tub before the winter and was planning on using British Larch which I can get hold of very easily but am not sure if it's durable enough so might go with either Siberian Larch or Cedar...
