The musical instruments that were known to the Pharaohs, in the eras of the various Pharaonic families, indicate their great importance, since they were in the form of a “box” and made of several reeds, of different lengths, according to the tones of the musical scale. Al-Sanea added its strings according to specific mechanisms, the strings came in tandem and successively, and were fixed with pegs corresponding to the keys. This was the first step taken by the musical instrument in the Pharaonic land, and then came the role of the woman in her playing and dancing during this era, as she mastered playing the lute in its first form: the curved, as she played the cymbal.
Which is the only stringed instrument that was transformed in the middle country into a group of instruments used in ritual worship. The women were sent, like slaves, to the royal court, for the purpose of holding rhythmic dances to the rhythm of specific melodies, accompanied by drums. During beating on wooden tambourines, women used to put special percussion instruments in their hands, designed in the form of prosthetic hands (man's hand).
تدل الآلات الموسيقية التي عرفت لدى الفراعنة، في عهود مختلف الأسر الفرعونية، على أهميتها الكبيرة، فمنذ أن وجدت كانت على شكل «الصندوق» ومصنوعة من عدة قصبات، بأطوال مختلفة، حسب نغمات السلم الموسيقي. وأضاف الصانع أوتارها وفق آليات محددة، أتت معها الأوتار بالترادف والتتالي، وثبتت بأوتاد تقابل المفاتيح. وكانت تلك الخطوة الأولى التي خطتها الآلة الموسيقية في الأرض الفرعونية، ومن ثم كان يأتي دور المرأة في عزفها ورقصتها ضمن هذا العصر، إذ أتقنت العزف على العود بشكله الأول: المنحني، كما عزفت الصنج.
والتي هي الآلة الوترية الوحيدة التي تحولت في الدولة المتوسطة، إلى مجموعة آلات تستخدم في طقوس العبادة. وكانت النساء ترسل مثل العبيد، إلى البلاط الملكي، بغرض إقامة الرقصات الإيقاعية على وقع أنغام محددة، ترافقها الطبول. واعتادت النساء، خلال الضرب على الدفوف الخشبية، وضع آلات نقر خاصة في أيديهن، مصممة على شكل أيد صناعية (يد رجل).
