What I dig most about the intro is that Andy nails a George Harrison slide tone over a Lennon song. Nice job!

For everyone complaining about the mix knob - the carbon copy Deluxe and Mini have a taper that was designed to work in front of a gained up amp. Yes, this does make it hard to hit the sweet spot in a loop, but offers more flexibility if you don’t use one. Like it or not, it’s a design decision, not a flaw.

The VERY beginning is hard, but it doesn't last as long as you'd think. You build up your finger calluses, get used to switching between a few basic chords, and suddenly you can play half of your favorite rock songs. It's surprising how many of those are just three or four chords. This only takes a couple months if you have any kind of aptitude. The period after that is some of the most fun you'll ever have playing guitar, because your skills improve lightning fast and every other week you feel like a new guitar player. Eventually though, you'll hit a plateau and you'll really have to push to see any improvement at all. That's when you'll know if you love it or not.

I bought one of these, will it was in the mail I bought a Strymon Deco... The deco does the slapback and tape echo better but this still offers tons of delay options. When the deco with saturation and chorus, using this pedal for delay is an excellent pairing, the tap function is especially useful to me.

Great review but why, with all the fancy expression options available, did they not include basic expression control over regeneration??
@hoover7287 жыл бұрын
Yes but I looked at the manual and it doesn't include regen.
@T-Hawkeyes7 жыл бұрын
@ OME, yeah they did not connect the regeneration to the expression... bummer
@MattW43197 жыл бұрын
I was all about it until you can’t change the mix or regen with the expression or even the 2 presets. These are the only 2 things I adjust. I don’t use the mod stuff.
@jspartacus6 жыл бұрын
It's there. All you have to do is configure 2 settings, one with the regen at your baseline, the other with regen at maximum. Save them and then morph between them with the expression controller. Easy.

To the folks not liking this pedal, I got the original on my board and I love it! As a guitarist, I do always want to advance my skills and tech, so I'm curious to know - I'm really intrigued by the pedal (since I'm a fan of the original) but I'm hearing some folks in the comments saying that it sucks. If you were to recommend a delay pedal with a similar modulation function like the Carbon Copy, what would you recommend?
@JPMonstie6 жыл бұрын
Seymour Duncan Vapour Trail. Had one for a few years and love it. Mod dials on outside plus you can input other pedal like phaser etc into pedal or even another delay. Much smaller than this one although one seems nice too. Agree they could have made the display non-flashing.

Andy, Scot, Gavin... any idea how this does on bass guitar? Is the normal setting too dark for bass? I'd love to know. Thanks Gents!
@andreyaek22667 жыл бұрын
I have used my original on bass, and I like the results when playing far up on the neck. I do think most people will prefer a clean digital delay, or even a delay with a high pass filter on bass though. A dark one like this will impose more limitations on your playing if you want to avoid sounding muddy!

I've always felt the carbon copy kind of fell short compared to other popular analog delays like the Memory Man and DM-2, and this just seems too little too late. EHX did it years ago. Also the delay isn't too audible it seems compared to where the mix knob is, you have it nearly cranked in some parts and it's still not that loud in the mix, what's up with that? Can you even hear it if the mix is below 12 o'clock?
@cour19887 жыл бұрын
boafewa hserf It's always been that way since I owned it. You could crank it and it would be barely unison it felt like. Lol
@kevchod7 жыл бұрын
I have the pedal, and I think they really dropped the ball on this one in regards to the mix. You're not wrong, good catch. Between 8:00 and 2:00 or so, the mix goes between "I can't hear it" to "I can barely hear it". Then, between 2:00 and 4:00 is the area most of us will be at, but it's such a small zone that it's hard to get that "right" mix.
@kierenmoore32367 жыл бұрын
Well that's a shame. And a stupid mistake/problem, if so ... :/
