Yes and yes you can. Check Pete Thorn’s demo. It’s “cab sim” in the same way as the original had. You will get the sound.

It’s a ton of gain but that’s how they got that classic sound. It’s not really any more noise than a gain pedal this high. Just LOTS of gain here. Thanks for watching! I’m not a chorus guy and I loved this chorus too!

or you could just use a Boss chorus into a driven Marshall, maybe add a compressor. Nothing beats a CE2 bro

Personally I've never liked the Boss CE2 mid/vol boost. From the mid 80s my fave was the TC Chorus/Pitch Mod/Flanger. Though recently the Providence Anadime has totally blown me away. But Boss CE2? 🤮
