You finally made it!!! Now make sure you stay on top of your game by doing this one easy trick: attending office hours. I'm so serious right now. The benefits of office hours are innumerable. If you think you can get through UC without going to office hours, think again! Thank me later.

Thank you so much for the advice! I am a new transfer student, so I'm not really use to office hours meetings. I will definitely give it a try.

Thanks Hailey that’s helpful! For my statistical psychology class at ucla the ta told me to only go to office hours if after a day of letting the information marinate in my brain and I still don’t understand some things then to go. But I feel like there is always something more to learn and it’s nice to also hear other students questions because maybe I didn’t catch something they did so I still want to go to all of them. What do you think? Also video suggestion: how to get into research here?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Karina! Personally, I would just go each week anyway, especially if you are confused from the get go. That was my philosophy, and I was pretty much always confused at the beginning 😅 Some concepts just don't settle in until the 3rd quarter or so. That's why it's good to get help when you need it. Tbh, I was never involved in research so I don't really know much about it. I think the best bet would be to talk to your professor and see if they have anything going on. If there is a professor whose class you really like, or you are interested in their research, it can never hurt to introduce yourself.

After you were transferring, and got to la, what were the class sizes for all of your classes since you finished the lower level general classes? At la are the general classes lower level the only classes that are big with 500 plus students? Then after transferring, are all the classes you had small? Around 30 students?

The biggest class that I was in was a lower division psych course I took as an elective, which had ~200 people in it. But, when I transferred, my first quarter was all lower division classes since none of the prereqs for linguistics were offered at my CC. My biggest ling class was Ling 20 the first quarter, which had ~120 students. The rest of my classes had between 20-30 students in them.

Hey Hailey!!😎 I wanted to Ask You Whether We Can Transfer from a Integrated Master Program from India to a Bachelor Program in US?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richik, generally, because a master's program is more advanced than a bachelor's program, this would not be permitted.

Hey Hailey! I have a question. Did you have more than 60 units when you transferred to UCLA? I'm thinking about doing a third year at CC, which will lead me to having over 60 units. I wanted to know if having more than 60 would affect my chances of getting accepted at UCLA.
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the # of units will have no bearing on your acceptance (unless of course you had less than 60). The most important thing is to try to complete as many of your prerequisites as possible.

Hailey If I have a Question, Is it possible that I can transfer with a 3.0 GPA?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's possible, but it would not make you a very competitive applicant. Also for certain majors and schools, this would absolutely not cut it.
