15:14 Winwood’s Roll With It is an awesome álbum. Love each track included. Hearts on fire is my favorite track and all songs bring so many joyfull memories from my high school days. One thing about this album: the audio is simply oustanding, if you own it on tape, vinyl, CD or even digital, you’ll find no better recording to put your audio system to the test. Awesome audio quality and awesome talent from Mr. Winwood as well. Thanks for the memories, great video!

Yup their big hit. All Mexican/Native American lineup. Kinda eclectic mix of musical styles, could get pretty funky at times. I think they were 'banned' in the US by some stations at one point due to Native topics in their song lyrics. They had another song called "Night Come Down" from their s/t debut that kinda reminds me of that hit. "Jambone" is a pretty cool instrumental, "Suite Mode" & "Things Go Better" are two more. Really good debut, a double album. In fact the first 4 albums (1970-73) are all solid, then starting with Beaded Dreams Through Turquoise Eyes their sound changed some. Their archival Redbone Live (recorded in '77) is pretty good but too short - should've contained more early tracks

Thanks so much for the Bad Company album review. Like your mate, I'm very keen on Burning Sky, which has a very "outdoor" feel as an album. It has differing moods from track-to-track. The way Burning Sky segues into Morning Sun is a thing of beauty. Ralphs' solo on Peace of Mind is perfect. Man Needs Woman is one of my fave tracks, and was great live. I have the Desolation Angels Deluxe edition, and must get the Burning Sky one soon. The cover would've benefited from some of the inner photo colour. Still waiting in vain for the Rough Diamonds Deluxe edition. We should start a petition! PS Kiki Dee is great.🙂

Uncanny ... the Kiki Dee box should be arriving tomorrow as I picked it up on ebay a couple of days ago [the Heart version of I've Got the Music in Me on Magazine is also great] ... and I've just finished buying up CD versions of the Steve Winwood studio catalogue [missing the 1977 debut] 'cause of the great melodic tunes ... saw Steve and his great band supporting Steely Dan in Glasgow [pre lock-down] and was genuinely taken by how good he was ... the Greatest Hits live album is fabulous .... that led me to re-visit Traffic [the same 5 CD set] ... I have the complete studio CD catalogue of UFO and, yes, the original CD did have additional re-makes on it - although, to be honest, it is not an album I re-visit too much [unlike the Paul Chapman era which I go back to regularly] ... recent acquisitions include : Gillian Welch / David Rawlings "Woodland", a 2015 remaster of Led Zeppelin "In Through the Out Door", new Steve Hackett live release recorded at Trading Boundaries, Adam Holmes limited CD release of "Survival" [great singer - songwrite from Edinburgh], the soundtrack [Qobuz stream] to "A Complete Unknown" - the movie about Dylan's early years [great - saw it once with Mrs McG, then a 2nd time with my 2x 27 year old daughters - to "educate" them - they enjoyed it] ... also Procol Harum "All This and More" box set ... and finally Chicago "Live at 55" - a genuinely awesome 2 CD set ... complete with Steve Vai et al .... Superb .... CMcG Aberdeen Scotland ... p.s. picked up the Robert Palmer Island box, tom Paxton 5xOriginals, Boz Scaggs' wonderful "Some Change", Jackson Browne "Standing in the Breach", T'Pau box Virgin Years" ... an eclectic mix .... p.p.s. and you can't really go wrong with Lee Ritenour .... love the Overtime CD [check out cover of Papa Was aRolling Stone]

Picked up 3+3, by The Esley Brothers following last month's show, going to start picking up more from mid 70's to 80's, buying and playing Sons Of Champlin, 7 albums over 2 releases, featuring the great Bill Champlin, then to the other extreme, Black Midi, Igorrr the French amazing musican even his chicken is talented, plus an album that missed out in 2024, by Octoploid, which features members of Amorphis, looks from the cover a stoner rock album but actually melodic death prog metal, new genre?, with a splattering of clean vocals every now and then, well recommended.

Phil, As you know, I'm a big Wishbone Ash and Cats In Space fan, so you might be surprised that I've been playing heavier material of late. My mate told me about a Christian band from Lancaster called Wytch Hazel. Described as a 'cross between Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash and Led Zeppelin'. Really good band with lots of riffs. This led me to another band called Green Lung, described as 'doom stoner'. Amazingly, I've taken to them as well. Recommend both bands to you. As regards new material, I have two vinyls on order, Curious Ruminant by Tull and Dreams On Toast by The Darkness (in Christmas splatter, no less !!). Finally, you may have seen the advert for the Madfish produced Wishbone Ash BBC boxset, coming out at the end of March. I wonder if you'll indulge in that one ?.....😊 Cheers Ian

The Ritenour/Larry Carlton teamup Live On Wowow Tokyo, 1995 is really good. I like some of his mid 70's stuff but generally too jazzy/laid back for me, I prefer a more fusiony/less jazzy style...Redbone = "Come And Get Your Love"...One kinda surprising thing: No 2025 albums for me yet, nothing has appealed to me so far. Lotsa older stuff though: Prashant Aswani - quality fusion/early 2000's Phil Manzanera - weird discography but listening to the collection 50 Years Of Music: 1975 - 1982 Rarities Delroy Wilson - one of those original Jamaican reggae stars now forgotten by many. spinning Better Must Come (The Anthology) Speaking of 60's/70's psyche: Deep In The Woods (Pastoral Psychedelia & Funky Folk 1968-1975) And on the prog side: One Way Glass: Dancefloor Prog, Brit Jazz & Funky Folk 1968-1975 Osmosis - s/t 1970 prog Glad/Feelin' Glad - 1968 psyche Brenton Wood/Baby, You Got It! The 1960's Anthology - quality Soul The Rubble Collection Volumes 1-20 - this is totally loaded with great unknown 60's/70's psyche! Same for Miles Out To Sea (The Roots Of British Power Pop 1969-1975) and Piccadilly Sunshine Volumes 1 - 10 (A Compendium Of Rare Pop Curios From The British Psychedelic Era) Airbus/Test Flight - wonderful early 70's psyche band Phillip Googhand-Tait - this may be a surprise but the band Camel, before issuing albums as a band, auditioned to be this guy's 'backup band'. 1971's I Think I'll Write A Song was the result. His collection Gone Are The Songs Of Yesterday: Complete Recordings 1970-1973 is also good Ginger - s/t - 1973 psyche The Roulettes/Stakes And Chips - 1965 rock in the mod style The Act/Too Late At 20 - 1981 New Wave Eyes Of Blue/Crossroads Of Time - 1968 psyche Viva/Automobile Downstairs - 1977 rock The Hitmen/Aim For The Feet & Torn Together - early 80s New Wave The Rising Storm/Calm Before... - 1967 psyche

Hi Phil, just wanted to comment quickly as I have literally just watched a video of a soundtrack song by Kiki Dee called `Another Side of Me` from a movie called `The Legacy` from 1978. When I watched the movie a few years ago (for the first time in many years)I really enjoyed the song but couldn`t quite place the vocalist? Slightly surprised when Kiki`s name came up on the opening credits and thought to myself I really should have known that! Instantly bought two double cd`s covering four of her albums one of which is the album you feature on this video. Highly recommended I`d say and well worth having in your collection. Btw that soundtrack song is sadly practically unavailable anywhere that I can see unless you happen to be able to find a rare cd copy of the soundtrack which I thankfully did. The soundtrack composer is Michael J. Lewis.

I'd bet Deep Purple are the band/artist with the most compilation albums in rock history, and I'm sad enough to collect them all! 24 Carat Purple was my first one, and it's Mk.2 at their most classic, with photos of all the albums up to Stormbringer. Singles A's & B's, from '78, introduced Emmaretta and Hallellujah for the first time, but also gave us the sombre and nicely unsettling Speed King (piano), which gave me the chills. At the end of '78, When We Rock, We Rock, and When We Roll, We Roll (a good title which sums up Purple as a full-on in a good way band) has a great cover by the Japanese "ELO Spaceship" artist, and goes from Hush to Burn via Mk.2. If it had Wild Dogs (live), and a second disc of 1984 - 2025 tracks, it'd be perfect.

Some great stuff as usual. Is there anything extra on that Kiki Dee box. I never bothered with it because I have all the albums but it looks quite nice from that quick glimpse. I'm with you on Burning Sky, after the first 3 it is a bit of a step down. I have a feeling some of the stuff was leftover from earlier sessions. Like Water certainly started life as a Peace track in 1971 and the original version is on the Songs Of Yesterday box set. Rodgers co-wrote it with his first wife (she is the Shimizu on the credits). The band must have thought it was a good album though as they played lots of it live as you can see from the double live CD from 77 and 79. Most of it got cut for the 79 set though.

I've been listening to Alcatraz, Slade and MSG. I've got Saxon and Andy Leek lined up for next week. I just read mojo magazine and heard Andy had passed away last November. Andy was the original keyboard player in Dexy's Midnight Runner's and had a solo career. I knew Andy at Walsall college in 1980 for a little while just after he had left Dexy's, a few weeks before Geno got to number one and was waiting on a solo deal.
