Wonderful! It was great to see some of my favourites and to see some of your recommendations. Like you, I am a book collector and have way too many books, but I am always looking at the newest ones to come out. It s great to see recommendations from a designer I like.

I’m so excited you got the CO BO book and have found value in it! I too love details and specifically still shot photography to follow along with and learn. That was another reason for me liking that book. So much great information, definitely going to check out some of these other options.

The design books look potentially very helpful! I don’t even plan to design, but my row gauge especially requires modifying every garment. And I’m sort of figured it out but knowing more about grading, design, math stuff about gauge, etc is super helpful for me!

Oh good! Yeah I think these books are great resources for understanding fit and sizing, even if you never plan to use it beyond that.

Thanks for all the great resource recommendations! Please tell me what sweater pattern you are wearing, I know I've seen it before and it's probably in my favorites in Ravelry but I cannot find it!

What books do you recomend for understanding grading?
@meeshyfrazzknits15 сағат бұрын
This is tough, actually, as I don't feel like I have any books that have explained all the aspects involved. The Knitting Pattern Writing Handbook (by Kristina McGrath & Sarah Walworth) has some size charts as well as sizing/ease recommendations which are helpful. Knitwear Design Workshop (by Shirley Paden) is a great resource for understanding sizing, fit, and calculating based on gauge. But truthfully, I picked up most of the basics of grading from a series of internet searches and blog posts. Sister Mountain has a great write-up on setting up your spreadsheet and calculations to consider (www.sistermountain.com/blog/grade-knitting-patterns-spreadsheet). And lastly, Ysolda's write-up and size chart were extremely helpful in giving me the numbers I needed to hit for other sizes (ysolda.com/blogs/journal/ysolda-s-sizing-chart-for-knitwear-designers). Unfortunately there's really not one single place I've found that covers everything, but these have all been super helpful for me.

Have you read Clara Parks and Elizabeth Zimmerman?
@meeshyfrazzknits2 күн бұрын
I haven't read any Clara Parks but I've been wanting to get her Book of Yarn! I do have a couple Elizabeth Zimmerman books and have found those to be great resources as well.
